was bummed out and decided to spend some time in my "junkyard". the result - 7" long with a 3" blade and 4 mm thick file steel. filing and sanding steel is therauptic

the 2nd and 3rd photos hopefully show the bevels. will do a jute cord wrap on it to keep it slim and unobtrusive.

Hi amazing work... I will be needing your help shortly because i will trying out to make a knife a couple of them with some good steel... I have a bench grinder in my house have to come back check if its still there... It will help me a lot in grinding the knife and bevel... Hi what kind of steel is it and how did you do the scales???

Looks lovely, Just a suggestion if you can take out the file grooves from the handle portion and add thin Padauk Scales, will give a lot of character to the blade.

And what are these files that you use as blanks for these blades, can you please post a pic I'd like to try it out too !!.

Tool steel is generally hard but brittle, will take a nasty edge but can't take a beating.

Nice even grind on both sides.Re. the handle,how about filling the grooves with coloured epoxy and then sanding it smooth.....just to be different

Boot knives are generally used for self defense so unless he lives in a really tough neighborhood, it's not going to get everyday use.
So a good edge is necessary but unless he runs into Inigo Montoya, prolonged use should be unnecessary.

Wicked looking knife there. I must say Winnie's idea has some merit.

sheath done. blade shall be skeletal for a minimal profile. real happy with the way it sits on my leg. no rubbing. quite unobtrusive. what do you guys think?

Outstanding job Marthandan, what have you done for retention in the shaeth ??? Do check out Sagewoodgear website for some awesome custom leather sheaths for Izula and BK14. I'm sure you'll get some wonderful ideas..

I think you have done a very nice job Marthandan!

The rope/cord looks painfully tight. You wouldn't want ur blood circulation stopped to that foot. The sheath n blade look very nice. That's just my observation from the picture.

bruno...you are right about the cord. flat straps would make better sense, not that i plan to wear it.

No problemo Bruno, once the blood circulation stops Marthandan can cut off his leg (like the SAW series of Gory movies) with his own boot knife..lolllzz

Marthandan that's a great boot knife. Simply love it.. You could try using nylon or thin leather straps stitched with velcro for retention.
