I polished, re-handled and patina'ed my BK14 and made a sheath for it to take a small flashlight and a cigarette lighter. I could have made it with a firesteel as I own a Swedish firesteel but I find that for most needs the little clipper serves just fine. Even in the wet. At approx 15cents a piece. And if that runs out I learnt how to make a bowdrill fire.
I managed to make it small enough to be unobtrusive and practically invisible when I wear it on my hip. For retention I chose to not go with any clip or press button system, so I wanted to add a thicker welt just over the little nub behind the blade (don't know the technical term). It sits just under the thicker welt and is impossible to shake out. But releases the knife without much effort. Thats what made me decide to add a loop for a little Clipper lighter. I am sure it will loosen out over time; I just hope it doesn't loosen too much. It now has (I cannot believe I am going to type this) "stealth" characteristics i.e. apart from being totally concealable unless one is frisked it has no aural signature. No noises when removing or putting the knife back; no click of buttons or kydex snapping. Its totally meaningless to me but I thought I'd put it out there.
The pictures.
Second Sheath I ever made.
