Indians For Guns

Hi friends

while going on treks, we invariably have to take public transport to reach a particular destination to start our trek.
However, i have always been afraid of getting my knife confiscated by security officials at e.g. Delhi metro, Indian Railways etc.

Which knives can v carry? i havent even taken my SAK for my trkking trips cz i had to use delhi metro enroute.

It feels really bad not taking your knife along cz when you need it for doing simple chores, you have to improvise or ask other people.

So kindly enlighten, which knives can we carry...as i dont have any intensions other than using the knife for may be learning basic bushcraft or opening cans etc with SAK.

I think you need to speak to senior officials of the Delhi Metro, Indian Railways, etc. and ask them what the rules state and if necessary ask for written permission to carry your trekking/outdoor knives.

I've been carrying my Victorinox on the metro without any hassles. Been stopped a couple of times, but they simply ask what it is, examine it and then wave me on. On the other hand, the chaps manning the gates of 5 star hotels in Delhi are quite obtuse and I almost always end up in an argument with these well meaning fools... I ask them if (once i am inside) they intend to serve me steak without the benefit of any cutlery or if they now serve food with plastic forks & knives? Almost always they see the logic to that statement and let me carry it inside

Been carrying my SAK, Kershaws and occasionally my Aruval as well.
I leave the SAK in my pocket attached to my keys. The kershaws i clip near my belt buckle.
On ant treks and adventure trips I quite openly carry my Aruval. Somehow it seems more acceptable to the indian crowd than a shiny survival knife..
