This chick's been sitting in my drawer for quite some time now. This is a super nice EDC blade, so hell why not EDC !!

Came across some nice spyderco mods in blade forums, since now have some basic tools to begin with. I will try a few.

The Khuk will have to wait till the week end, till I figure out a way to weld the damn handle.

A few mods planned for the puppy are

1) Grooves in the G10 handle for added traction/grip. -- One Side done
2) Engraving on the blade - Searching for a nice simple pattern to engrave on the blade.
3) Mirror Polish on the blade and the steel liners.
4) A nice Lanyard

Used the rotary tool with a conical stone attatchment to carve out grooves in the G10. Not that it was required , G10's an excellent material for scales, superb tractions and comfortable grip.

Cleaned the scales with a bit of WD40.





My EDC Set

A tiny Gerber in the key chain, used to carry the Victorinox bendeshwehr, now shuffle with Marthadans kiridashi which is so light and with such a slim profile that it's very convinient to carry in a formal office trouser and very easy to sharpen. The Gerber 600 Multitool-Occasionally carried when some construction work is in progress and the Sypdie taking the centre stage now...



This is the type of engraving I want to attempt on the Tenacious Blade (yes tried a bit of engraving on an el cheapo chinese knife---Works )

the scales look awesome. filework on the liners is another great idea.
not so sure about your engraving idea. i feel that it might interfere with the clean look of the blade.

The engraving is nice for a wall hanger but for an EDC knife?
I couldn't watch the nutnfancy video because my connection is slow.

Thanks Marthandan takes a while but well worth the effort, tons of super cool ideas for G10 scales. Wish G10 was available in India.

I kind of liking the idea of a bit of embillishement and personalisation on teh blade, the Victorinox you see above, I filed away the scalloped serations and put in a striaght edge. Will keep the pattern simple and not to busy so as not to interefere with teh clean lines of the leaf shaped blade. I take your point. But the khujli in uncontrabble, have to have to have to try my hand at engraving...

Looks good Priyan Worth a try. Some nice reviews here if you don't have a broad band connection. This is a very nice blade, the only other EDC folder I have that's better in quality is the Benchmade Griptilian, but again can't compare the two, the BM is in a different league and twice as expensive.

Moin, I do prefer the 'uncleaned' scales as they offer nice contrast. Well that's just me.
Your doing a great job. You may also want to invest in a adjustable swivel vice to hold your blade while you work.

Since I've started EDC'ing the Tennie thought of getting the blade mirror polished. Been rubbing the damn thing with 2000 Grit Polish paper since last one week , every night, little by little. Did'nt want to use a lower grit paper in fear off grinding off too much of metal or scratching the blade. Tried my hand at buffing on the bench grinder with a cotton pad, the damn Green Buffing COmpund Bar just wont stick to the buffing wheel, after breaking my head trying to wet the bar, heat it slightly got fed up and let go. Still have a decent finish and most of the grind marks are gone.. Some Pics of the blade now compared to the brushed /satin finish on all spyderco's..

The right way to do this is to hold the compound bar against the buffing wheel while it is spinning on the grinder. Just like you are trying to polish the compound bar itself. The friction will heat it and it will stick to the buffing wheel.

Tried that as well Rajat, doe'snt work. Will have to see some alternate solution. Is there a liquid type of abraisve polish available that can be directly applied on the cloth instead ?

There is something wrong if this does not work. This is the way it is done.Ok probably it is something else that you are using for buffing. Pictures will help

Yes, there are liquid abrasive compounds available. These are available from many companies including 3M. Look for rubbing compounds at your hardware store or at paint shops. Most of these are for paint lobs but some will suit your purpose too.

Thanks Rajat, this is the cotton wheel I am using with the Green Super Fine Polishing Compound. I did many things wrong, firstly the cheapo wheel got stuck in the arbor shaft, could get the nut in place properly so ran the bench grinder without the nut, was very stupid of me to do so knowingly. The wheel not being a snug fit maybe was not providing adequate resistnace to the bar for it to melt and coat the fabric. Maybe instead of using a soft flannel wheel I should have used something stiffer. This wheel yanked the knife many times, luckily I was holding the knife very toight knowing it can just throw the blade back at me at high speed. Whew, so stupid things in desparartion sometimes..
