True. Read someplace quoting Bruce Lee - "Best self-defense in martial arts is to run away."

When i first became interested in knives i was soo obsessed with finding the best "TACTICAL KNIFE" and the so called "Best knife fighting technique". And i used to fantasize many knife fighting scenarios. But after some time i realized that life is not a movie and in real life, trying to be a hero.. gets u killed.

So my advise to all the new knife enthusiast... caution is better than rash courage. Its always better to avoid unpleasant situations ... dont take any risky decisions thinking that you can take care of it if it gets worse. Its always better to avoid. Dont let the heat of the moment get to you.

If you want to learn eskrima or silat, nothings wrong with that. But more importantly ... do CARDIO (not kidding) if faced with a guy with knife... instead of taking out yours... RUN!!! Run like the wind. SERIOUS. Dont let your ego get in the way. Dont be a hero and try to save the day.

Its very easy to get tempted into using a knife, especially with so many great blades available and all the youtube videos on them. DONT.

Collect knives but not with the intention of using them.

Just my opinion .

I would imagine that in a knife fight,even the victor will end up with serious cuts.

Actually, use the knife as a tool and you should be okay. Not using knives is a bad idea - wasted investment.

Yup a knife should be used only as a tool. Infact its the first tool that man invented . But it should never be used as a weapon... can never say never.. but as far as possible.. avoid that situation.

in a knife fight best tool to use is a gun. higher rate of living. failing that try the Italian quick step

no joke its means running away. (not that they are coward. with the right leader they are good. quick step was term used during the 45 war.]

failing that put something between yourself and the knife.

i remember seeing a documentary or news reel long while back of a knife attach on the Filipino president where the attacker with the knife was backed off with a chair used by the quick thinking bodyguard. no fancy moves or the marital art world used just common gray matter.

watch this, knife attacker was shot in the end, but look at the rampage and number of men it took to nail him. it was in 1972 the man attacked mrs manyshoos

There is no such thing as a Knife Fight!
If someone pulls a knife on you in the real world, you are probably being mugged.
I've ranted on and on about the whole tactical aspect in another post. For those with the patience for my random ramblings.

that is funny site, popping up on knife forums from time to time.
best knife fighting/defence system imo is kuntao silat. Regardless of country you living, kutao silat teaches basic principles which can be applied anywhere.
