atleast a couple of years. the leather liners are quite tough. and i can always use the actual scales or change to something else...like wood for example

It looks very nice, did you have to use any particular type of glue?

Victorinox's are such wonderfulfully useful EDC tools. Very easily available, very well priced, come with lifetime warranty, can get the blades to be razor sharp, blades good enough to cause painful injury rather than mortally wounding for SD purposes, very very practical knives.

here's my SAK Mod. I had the scalloped serrations removed, tried adding a swedge too on the tip but quit halfway. This one's a real user.

Here's how the blade with the scalloped serrations looked like.

Here is after I reprofiled the blade.

The scalloped serrations served no purpose at all for me. I love the olive drab scales so would'nt want to change them. A good para cord lanyard is planned, but these leather laces are a good idea as well. I'm assuming these are the woodland type leather shoe laces available with most cobblers ?

mark - used two part epoxy (araldite) for gluing and cyanoacrylate(fevikwik) to stiffen the preiphery. cyanoacrylate can be polished to a high gloss.

is it just me or has there been a drop in the finish of SAK's as compared to the ones that were available like 5 -7 years before?

Marthandan,

I cannot really answer that as I haven't purchased anything that recent. The last 2 I purchased were from old stock so as I mentioned I can't say.

Moin you did a really, really nice job re-profiling and then sharpening your blade! Congrats on a VERY nice looking finished product, as is yours too Marthadan!

Thank You Mark. Owe it to the wonderful Lansky Sharpening Kit, was a breeze, time consuming yes, but very easy to do. :)

P.S: Waiting for some good pics of the knives that you've forged.

Best Regards
Moin.
