Hi friends, have a look at these sickles which i have with me.

Reminded me of the erstwhile USSR minus the hammer.
Are the straight ones also sickles?

They remind me of FPSRussia, the fake Russian. BTW seeing these pictures makes me wonder if am I the only one who actually uses sickles to harvest crop. Speaking of the straight ones at the bottom, they look like 'dao' to me. We use them to chop wood, bamboo etc.

Intersting to see the older ones, always thought sickles to be more circular in shape.

In Maharashtra the straight ones are called "Koyta".

In west bengal, the straight ones are called "daa"...used to cut tender coconuts and similar.

yeah... we too call them KOYTA here. and in kannada they are called "macchu".
