The little 1"5 inches Urban Pal and 3" inches Counter Point 2. I Carried the urban Pal since the day I got It on my key-chain (its a total urban survival key chain
). Now I need to know if the blade of under 3 inches(I measured it to find its 2.9, what they usually do to keep it well under legal limits if the limit is 3 inches), will it be a problem to make an EDC? The knife has a false edge on the back which might bring up the point of being a piercing Dagger design.
Anyways the blade qualifies all what I wanted from the knife, right size, decent steel(Aus8a as the urban pal), strong lock which was my main requirement. Cold steel has calmed the Triadd lock used to be the strongest in the world. I did not want to carry a heavy bulky knife but just something which can be as easy to carry and as useful/lethal.
Please give your views on the Legalities and your point of view on anything that matters.
Shashank.

Nice collection of the 'brothers' !!
The Urban Pal is a 'Push Dagger' / 'Punch Dagger' and is a deadly device for self protection, provided you have the time to deploy it within your fist and if the assailant is unarmed / armed with a knife. I also have one with me. While the blade length is within legal limits, I feel it would be tough to explain the carrying aspect of it, if questioned by guys of the Cop kind. The looks are menacing enough for any cop to understand its implications... in comparison to a regular folder...
The steel is top grade, without doubt.
Cold Steel is itself a renowned manufacturer of knives and blades.
My 2 pc worth !

I would disagree somewhat with the cold steels blades; when the cold steel blades came out in the early '80s they were made of much better steel stock compared to today, many of the cold steel blades made by Lynn C. Thompson in the 80s were very good. Nowadays I believe that they are made elsewhere and not so good, please correct me if you think I am wrong.

You're correct Naga, Here is a quote from Wikipedia:
Cold Steel was founded in 1980 by company president, Lynn C. Thompson.[1] Cold Steel's products are manufactured in various countries including the United States, People's Republic of China (PRC), Republic of China (Taiwan), India, and South Africa.[2]

Yes I did practice with the urban pal and if you do it right, its impressive. The blade is attached to a friendly keychain and less people figure out it to be a knife till pulled out of the shealth. I am less worried about the Urban pal than for the Counter point 2. Its the spear Point disign of the blade that worries me. Whats your thought on that?
About the steel, Less experience with the blades yet but the quality of urban pal encoureged me to go for this knife. I used the tiny blade for everything I could everyday. The blade is still super sharp after few touch up's. Its not the top quality grade but as she says, you get what you pay for and its a great value of money. The steel is used by many other knife making brands too. The steel is similer to Spyderco's 8cr13mov or the knife making 440c steel. I Was just looking for a well made, better than leaf spring knife, strong and easy to sharp. I think this is the right steel for the time.
Awesome;) Heartiest Congratulations Shashank, the folders a nice addition to your EDC Gear.

Moin.
In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer. Camus
Thanks Moin.

There are the cold steel lovers and the cold steel haters. Take your side
. Was reading on another forum that cold steel produces good knives but due to their extensive advertising and marketing the customer ends up paying a premium for their blades.
I personally own quite a few and so far never had a problem with them. The mini urban pal and the super edge are two of my favorite small knives. But then I love any small knife

Great choice man!i like coldsteel....and their design fundas!
i got a few of them, never actually used....other than the folding bushman (very fancy lock design)...which i used in almost all camping trips.
i have the urban pal ,!but still quite noticeable to openly carry in the key chain.I love the opening sound of the tilite too,
here is the father of the brothers
and they say its a folding pocket knife ...like this spartan ,good as collectibles
....i will say keep collecting coldsteel, very wicked looking knives they got

Thanks Sanjiv for the family get together
. This is how I have been carring my urban pal for months for no questions asked by shopping mall security or my office security. Nobody ever had anything to ask till I actually pulled the blade out

Spartan surely is a amazing knife.very stable, it feels awesome in hand. and the urban pal is a nice small handy sized one. have u checked the safe keeper and safe maker series. those are very good. the blade is much thicker than a urban pal.
i have a spartan, rajjah ii, recon tanto, american lawman, urban pal, super edge, oss, leatherneck, minituff lite, tanto lite, almost the whole night shade series, voyager vaquero and a true flight thrower.
for edc i prefer a super edge or a minituff lite. they are very handy in size
i want to learn using knives though. do you know anyone in delhi who gives training in knives.
