Indians For Guns

Most knives have torx screws, which require a torx bit. Is there a set from an Indian precision tool manufacturer that is of good quality? I find most h/w stores stock chinese el-cheapo stuff that has soft metal, and cannot unscrew properly (the bits deform). I am willing to pay the price, if the quality is good. Know any manufacturer, and location/place where I can get these?

I use the Chinese ones. Not sure if Taparia makes one, but worth checking it out. P.S: Never had any real issue with the Chinese ones really, worked fine for me.

In stead of bits, get a set of Torx keys made by an Indian manufacturer. Available at most auto parts stores (ask for a set of "star" allen keys) for under INR 200, the steel is good and they'll last forever.

I got myself a SKIL drill bit / screw bit set, contains some 100 odd bits - flat, phillips, 5 point, 6 point, 8 point. Made by Bosch in India, so should be good. I didn't find any quality issues. Also includes a ratchet driver to take the bits. About 2.5 K (as far as I can remember). This was from Home Town, Vikhroli West, Mumbai. Bosch India website should have more info. I think their battery drivers also have torx bit in the included kit. Else, the mobile shops have the mobile repair kits - they have all types of bits, albeit in the small sizes - just ensure you buy the yellow box with transparent front flap opening (I forgot the brand - not Chinese, Indian local).

That's interesting - I have the allen keys, but did not know the "star" ones also exist! Thanks - these will be super strong, based on my experience with the allen keys.

The CRKT Get away tool provides a range of torx bits that are very useful in knife maintenance. Also it's got a LED and bottle opener. Great to switch pocket clips.
