2nd folder, 1st love Rick Hinderer's X-24 is here* Pic Heavy

Post by rahul567 » Fri Sep 09, 2011 11:49 am

The Beast has flown:
On my hunt for the perfect folder , I fell in love with the rick Hinderer's XM series folder. But after hunting for long and i just couldn't source it. I joined a few international forums and was told that unless I was willing to spend twice the cost there was no way to get a Xm folder in the near future. I was told that Hinderer doesn't sell directly (except to armed forces personnels). And due to the huge demand their resellers jack up the price. And even the used one sells at a premium. I started corresponding with the company but not seeing much hope went ahead and got myself CR's Umnumzaan. A truly beautiful blade and and manufacturing marvel.
But during the process of getting the Umnumzaan, got the good news that they have a XM-24 ready for a blade show and after the show they are willing to ship it (as an exception) . though i had spend huge bucks on the first knife just couldn't resist and yesterday the order was confirmed and shipped also.
For some reason Hinderer's got a little generous and gave me a free up gradation to blue anodized clip and blue Titanium standoffs (instead of steel standoffs) .
The beast should land by the 12th :D :D

Do post the pictures one you get it!

You are right, the scales, clips etc are not a big issue and are available, these may be changed later on.

By the way is it the Flipper model or the Non-flipper?

Hi Rahul ,

Hinderer sells to any one who can pay his price and sale is not restricted to armed forces. I ordered one too - its on the way.
Lucky you got the free upgrades I got none .

Hi jk
quite possible but it did require some convincing that they would sell directly usually they informed that they sell to individuals (other then armed forces) thru resellers only.I just got lucky with the freebies so i hope you didn't choose USPS for shipment . what have you ordered?? when did you place the order and whats the status

Hi Rahul ,

I ordered the standard one - black scales ,steel standoffs . I was told that is what they have available .As mentioned you are lucky .
My price $550 + $32 shipping . yes I did choose USPS .Is there a problem with USPS shipping ? Ordered it last week am told its shipped on 7th.

ok so there is going to be too xm 24 in India.well I have had extremely bad experience with USPS . I don't want to spoil your mood but as per my experience if usps actually manages to deliver a knife(and its a big If) it takes minimum 45 days. you should have requested for fedex. No doubt you pay a bomb but when you have ordered such a expensive knife atleast you are assured that it will reach you for sure and that too max 5 -6 days. what was the value declared for the knife on the slip sent along with the shippment. Rick has all the xtra accessories ready with him to pimp up your knife
