advise needed for knife in customs

hi guys

i placed an order for Rambo style knife with ebay.com on 20th May. the cost of knife was around 25 us dollars.

it reacher into foreign customs on 26th May and is still lying there. there is no update on usps.com (courier/ postal dept./ company).

the length of blade is 8 inches. and overall length is 12 inch. i don't how to contact foreign customs dept. to know the status of knife.

plz advise..

Have patience, things can sit in customs for days as my experience goes. If it is tracked (as in your case), there will be an update for sure. In case nothing happens for a month, only then would I suggest finding other options.

The port-of-entry post office typically has a "customs inspection center", so you need to get contact for this place to proceed. In my case, it is generally the Mumbai post-office.

you can call to post office in your place, get the number and call to Delhi foreign post office, once they hold my knife for 17 days. I called them and they told me to come and visit them in person ($$) :shock: .. it does not work to be too polite with these guys, so I got my knife quite soon after that.

Now, I have a rule, once any my parcel stack in custom, I'm calling and Emailing right away. If you will not take care of your things who will...

knife received on 4th June 2011. i had to pay Rs.583 as customs duty.

Not a big amount , i'm happy. will post pics later. Thanks for suggestions and advise.
