Beautiful piece, you should not have any problem bringing it as long as it's in your checked-in baggage.
Justice alone is the mainstay of government and the source of prosperity to the governed, injustice is the most pernicious of things; it saps the foundations of the government and brings ruin upon the realm - Sher Shah Sur, Sultan-ul-Adil.

The 'Gerber Bear Grylls' knife is nice. It does not compare to the quality of the LMF but then it costs much less than the LMF. They have a whole bunch of 'Bear Grylls' branded stuff like a folder and some survival kits too.
Nice buy.

Nice knife they make decent knives
isnt Bear Grylls ex SAS the chap who was actually staying in tents while filming the serials he has to apologize later on? I find him quite over the board unless one is quite fit or ex SAS - half of his stuff is more risky and not for lay person
Sorry for the OT

Nice knife. It shouldn't be a problem as long as it is in checked-in baggage. As an additional precaution, keep the sales receipt with you in case the customs nutcases want to levy a duty.
The knife is sketchy on details of the steel - says "high carbon", which means it will require some maintenance, especially from a point of view of rust. After every use, clean the blade with water and some mild soap, and DRY IT, and it should last you long.
Also remember, a sharp knife is a safe knife.

Well also climbed Mount everest at the age of 23 after recuperating from a parachuting accident. You have to admit, the serial's very entertaining with all the stuff he manages to eat [:)] Ofcourse what's shown in the serial is not to be imitated by us lesser mortals, these special forces chaps undergo gruelling military trainings and are hard as nails....ngrewal wrote:Nice knife they make decent knives

in case if you going to construct house, this knife can be useful too
in India construction workers often putting some good amounts of concrete in wrong places,
then this knife can be used to cut it off.

Re: gerber bear grylls ultimate survival knife
I feel a little sad that Bear Grylls has lent his name to this product. It is a nice knife and is owned by a friend. Used this recently on a camping trip to Mulshi Dam. It is handy in basic usage, but I wont push this knife to tough use. I expect a knife that is built like a tank, from Bear Grylls. This one unlike some knives like the BK2 Companion or Cold Steel Recon Scout, does not inspire enough confidence to chop away with abandon. I agree that it is much more economical and hence good value. But I expect Bear Grylls to stamp a knife that is indestructible....just like he seems to be.

Re: gerber bear grylls ultimate survival knife
I have carried 4 Spyderco knives once in check-in baggage without problem. As long as you adhere to the length (9") and width (2") restriction, you should be okay. As I said earlier, keep the sale invoices with you, in case they want to know the cost.superuser wrote:Also am trying to buy a bowie knife and carry it to INDIA. is it a problem if i carry two knives in my check in luggage?

Re: gerber bear grylls ultimate survival knife
Gerber did make some good knives previously, but not now. I bought a Prodigy in September 2010 and it chipped during hard use on a trekking trip a month later. Besides, serrated blade never helps and add to that the Bear Grylls knife has been manufactured in China, so quality will be inferior. I recently bought a Becker Bk 7 through 20north online. It was a bit expensive; should have tried knifecentre.com or tomarskabar.com. But becker is a solid knife. Am planning for a BK 2 soon. Better spend money on a Becker or a RAT if you really want a good survival knife. even a kabar will do.
