Thanks Vikram, There are few more and the one in the center is my fevorite.
Btw any one knows what should i call it, I mean this kind of knife.
The one in green is a Muela & the last khukri is a gift from mom.
Got few bigger ones and switch blades...

Note : I would love to See other folks's knife collection. Knives which are bought in India

Hello Shashank, Very nice stuff you have there. Thanks for posting. The middle one I believe would have been made in China. It's some what of a cross between a 'Rambo' knife and also has some 'fantasy' blade influence. The cut outs in the blade seem to represent some kind of bullet outlines. All the best and hope to see your collection grow.

Hay Brono And Hii Greenbust I read your posts and reviews so i know a little about you.I am 86 born. Now I wanted to have good knives since i was a kid... it started when I visited my village and saw the arm collection they had(including few ww2 guns) ... Then till 13 I had a Gupti(A thin pointed blade hidden in a baton tYpe stick), a small Pure Silver Gada( 750 Gms Stolen I guess during shifting the house I loved it), a Coustom made Big dao, A small Khanjar 4 inch and few reguler folders, all at home now. Left the home since then and u know how its like keeping a knife whn u stay at a hostel. Now when i married in 2009 I felt i can start this again .... a fairly new collection but trust me worth it...

The Meula is my favourite....

Dear discovershashank et al,

Need some advice on the Meula in the first pix. I came across it at Base Camp, Thane. In fact it was the only piece they carried and that too in 3 different handles. The other two pieces that they had were a small kirpan and a larger version which was better balanced and with wood grip. The Meula was all in plastic though on their web site they advertise handles of metal/ horn/ wood etc.

I am looking for a good carry-on knife for those long distance road travels, sometimes alone and sometimes with family. Since I noticed the Meula in this thread, I would appreciate if y'all can answer a few Qs for me:

1. Is the plastic handle a problem if the knife is dropped accidentally and dashes against a hard object like say basaltic rock ?
2. Does it handle well with wet/ greasy palm ?
3. Does it soften easily in face of exposure to day time heat ?
4. Can the Meula be carried into water - both fresh and saline - without damage or chances thereof ? I mean, can I carry it and enjoy a swim in a lake or the sea without having to think too much about it ?

hay airgun_novice, iwill try my best and see what i can answer. the muela i have had a twin brother and as i had replacement, i used to use it for all bizaar hings, finally after throwing the knife pretty hard on an old wooden door for throwing practice for about a month an a half ....the knife handle had a crack ....trust me i was expecting it but dint care coz i had a promice by a craftsman to fix the handle coustome if broken... rest the best and the worst thing abt the knife is ... it can be sharped easily but doesnot retain sharpness for long and goes smooth ...but agin this is one is the cheapest around 1500 rs .... i would have loved it if the blade was a little broader... i would suggest go for a little broder knife... about the steel ... its not easily gonna rust on you and the handle matarial is fine ...will stay for ometime ...and i can assure wont break if it accidenty falls on a rock ... the people at basecamp sed its used by indian army and they are the folks who supply it..

why dont people check it out...the preice tags on the knifes are so cool.but i am not sure if all are authentic..i read reviews that the are a little slow .. but still promicing rates..

plz chek out and let us know what u think and if somebody alredy odered something(would love if its a knife)

Thank you, discovershashank, for the prompt response. Basecamp stocks up on on this particular model only. In fact I wanted (just as you said) a slightly broader blade, but then it jumped up to the full size kripan look-alike (INR 3500). They had nothing in between. Smaller kripan didn't heft well. They have assured me that another model is on the way by this month end but even that has a plastic handle. In fact I preferred a folder for safety reasons (with kids around) but they do not stock up on that anyway. So I might have to settle with the model you have for the time being as I am off on a 15-day road trip in mid-April. BTW this edge problem that you mentioned - is it with this smaller model or Meula steel in general, any idea ? Thanks again. Have a colorful and cheerful Holi.

hii airgun_novice ... i read it somewhere (i dont remember) that the higher ends of muela are way better steel quality... and Thanks for the coment shooter , i was too stuped not to search the forum before posting abt 20north.com

Hi Shashank, you do get dedicated throwing knives. These are balanced and built for the task. Throwing a normal fixed blade knife by a amateur will definitely damage the knife and can also cause you some injury if you are not careful.
