Byrd Cara Cara - a Spydie on a budget and an Imperial fishing knife courtesy Mark. Thanks to Mark and to Inder for the S&W knife sharpener and for bringing them over. Much appreciated.

Now, on to the pics...

The Cara Cara has yet to be put through it's paces but for what it cost ($25.00), I'd say it's a value for money pocket knife. There is an almost unnoticeable amount of lateral play in the blade and frankly I don't think it will make any difference to its performance. However, time will tell.

Nice knives, Mack The Knife. The retractable knife sharpner's a very handy tool.

Hi Vikram,

I do use some, say 70%, of my knives as the mood and circumstances dictate. However, only a handful get used very often. In order of use, I would rate them as follows:

1) My Victorinox Swiss Army Champ.
2) Victorinox Swiss Army Tool Plus.
3) British Army Service Khukuri.

The Spyderco Bill Moran Drop Point is still new but I have taken such a shine to this knife that I now carry it almost everywhere and no one is the wiser. Earlier I wouldn't have thought of carrying a fixed blade, except outdoors but it's multi-position sheath makes carrying it comfortable and inconspicuous. No complaints about the knife either. The only gripe is that the kydex sheath tends to scratch the blade but I understand that is a universal problem. As it so happens, I am going to order another when the opportunity presents itself.

The Cara Cara now travels in my pocket....until such time as I can get a Spyderco Manix Plain Edge.

If I could carry only one, it would be the SAK Swiss Champ. Boring but very practical.

Thanks Danish but it's a long way from being anything special.

Navdeep and Pran,

That sharpener is more like a pen and its cap rather than being retractable.

"hmm, Wonder how I missed all those when I was there at your house.."

I just received them a couple days back. Incidentally, we need to meet in April because Inder would like to try your 75 alongside the 45 before deciding on which one to buy. If we plan in advance, we could have a Bangalore IFG meet but outdoors. The WASI cottage at Shivasamudram would be ideal if we are not more than eight adults. More discussion on this on a new thread.

Seems so obvious after you told it

Is this same as the Cauvery fishing camp?

On the contrary, thanks for bringing them down. Finished sharpening the sheepsfoot blade. Bring the tanto when you come over.

The sharpener and Mark's knife now reside in the tackle box.
