Agree Subal. Seen a lot of good Boker Folders. Available in Heera Panna in MUmbai. INR 1000 onwards... Very good build quality.

I just ordered for a 'Schrade Extreme Survival Special Forces ' Knife a few moments back. Looks great, and looks like some solid steel! Should be posting a few pictures of that as soon as it arrives.
Although, should I be expecting any problems from the customs? The Knife is about $52 and the Fed Ex cost me $40.

The Eickhorn ACK is built to meet and exceed Mil and NATO standards, and it's in service with the German armed forces.

As with Eickhorn's other military knives, the blade, tang, and cross guard are laser cut from one piece of premium steel, and corrosion proofed.

The handle and scabbard are made of injection molded 30% glass fiber reinforced polymers.

Eickhorn's ACK comes with a bottle opener, wire stripper, and universal saw.

The sheath has an adjustable wire cutter blade, a sapphire blade sharpener, a lanyard, and a drainage hole.

It can be rotated, and provides fastening points for belt carry, combat vest carry, or MOLLE carry.

The blade of the ACK is 3.6mm thick, 175mm in length, and the overall length of the knife is 355mm

The knife weighs 230g, and combined weight of knife and sheath is 440g.

The ACK isn't just a fine German Military Knife.

With the extra features, it's versatile enough to be a great belt knife for anyone wandering around in the boonies.

San Mai III® Gurkha Kukri

Post by Subal das » Mon Oct 18, 2010 12:32 am

Image

12" blade, cost $600

out-chop any factory or handmade knives; including swords twice its size

NOT for vegetarians :!:

The Gurkha Kukri’s VG-1 San Mai III® blade will out-chop any factory or handmade knives; including swords twice its size, even expensive, hand forged Japanese Katanas. It’s the heaviest Kukri on the market. The blade is almost an inch wider near the tip than at the handle, shifting the knife’s balance point forward to allow a substantial blow to be struck with minimal effort, using inertia alone to complete the cut.

Each Gurkha Kukri is supplied with a Secure-Ex® sheath to protect the blade and allow you to wear it safely and securely on your side always ready to defend you and your loved ones.

Yes, I give them this: Cold steel has great marketing guys who come up with a lot of gimmicks and catchy lines. You will find them doing the nuttiest things to sell their stuff, they are experts in this.

"allow you to wear it safely and securely on your side always ready to defend you and your loved ones." Who would not like to wear a machete or a large camp Axe rather if they carry a 12" blade. It will be much more efficient and scary.

But they do have some good knives. It is just their marketing tactics that gets on my nerves. They are too "loud" for me.

Hey Subal: waiting for your next post!

one more thing to add to the whole picture of Cold Steel's kukri
The Cold Steel Gurkha Kukri was inspired by Cold Steel President, Lynn C. Thompson’s close association with Dr. Maung Gyi, chief instructor of the American Bando Association
Bando is Burmese martial art, maybe less know to the West at all, because of Burma isolation. That would be extremely interesting to learn about Bando kurki style, I have seen Bando based knife defense, that is one of best no doubt and one of few which may really work in real life against skilled opponent with knife.

This Schrade Extreme Survival fixed blade knife features a thick 6.4" 1095 high carbon steel full-tang blade with easy-to-grip Kraton handles. The Nylon sheath is lined with Kydex and has a small pocket for storing small items. Extremely heavy-duty, well-made knife at a great price!
