possibly, Rajat...
Am still looking for a Scagel replica
Hope this bloke finds 'his' survival knife.I still wish he agrees to carry 2 , say a khukri with a leather sheath, and a leatherman to sit piggy back on it.Now thats a survival combo in my book.

Can be a good combination. a good Khukri can be found locally and a Leatherman can be easily bought on ebay without any customs hassles.

But anyway this topic has made up for some interesting discussion!

eljefe, I am sure that you have already done some research work on this and what I am saying is nothing you already have not thought of but here is a suggestion: go to http://www.knivesshipfree.com/Scagel. They have a nice collection and ship to India, you can maybe mail the shipping department / customer care and convince them to ship one of these to you via UPS, DHL, FED Ex etc. at the extra applicable charges and you can get your Scagel knife.

+1, an ideal survival combo when the fit hits the shan would be a machete like big blade + a small folder. However, not many of us are likely to be found alive in such situations and if we do, humans will improvise. On a usual urban day, a decent folder should see you through.

See this Schrade, for USD40, it is a deal

Yup, i guess you could kind of classify that somehwere in 'half' tang, though a pure full tang would be more like :

@ Rajat, Thanks for the link, I am trying to get a scagel look alike crafted by a good metalworker here in Oz.! Then I found mosaic damascus and also damasteel.Still recovering from the high of the mosaic damascus.I know I can never afford a custom made piece unless i win at Lotto! but damn, what a madness!

http://www.johanknives.com/
And this wouldnt be a drawer queen-lovely belly, enough for skinning, even the bolsters are damascus, hope no mother of pearl-cant stand that stuff.I'd rather settle for some file work...

Thats what i meant. Actually, I have a fallkniven H1 pretty high on my radar, last spoke to Peter at Fallkniven a while ago and got distracted by the scagel and a couple of things like a 8x57 mil mauser and so on.Must get back onto my knives...
Enough OT, lets get back to finding this bloke his ideal survival knife

Muela makes decent stuff. However this one is more of a display piece, not that the steel is bad, but the design is not practical for survival or EDC.
How much did it cost you? Does it have the inscription on the other side; "Deg, teg , Fateh"?

No it does not have "Deg, teg , Fateh" inscribed, I think that was on Victorinox knives. It has Muela Inox Made in spain inscribed. what does EDC stand for?

I'm using same absolutely knife in kitchen for about a year. It can be sharpened pretty well, with diamond stones, but edge retention just little bit better then of good quality kitchen knife. very good knife in overall, not brittle steel will last for long, sharpening curved blade can be another problem.

EDC is for every day carry.

These are not the knives a beginner would have chosen.

You have studied your blades well and have good taste! Some great blades here: fancy but at the same time Mature.

Go in for the the Fallkniven H1, it can see all the work you put its way.

I have the same with "DEG TEG FATEH" + "Khanda, Bata" incribed.
Talwandi(seem to be from Talwandi), from where did you buy, can you ask them if they could provide a seperate leather sheath at extra cost?

A very good buy indeed, congrats.

you cant stub really with Fallkniven H1, risk that knife will slip in the hand you will cut yourself quite great.

new Becker BK-2 "Becker Campanion" 2nd Generation, has much more practical handle and as good as H1
