Sorry for this late response. Was travelling and now here in bangalore.

Rajat, I thought similarly of leatherman given my options. They fit fairly ok for EDC. The Ld01 is very handy for me and is of the right weight being stainless steel. The surge is a tad heavy but now used to it after EDCing for over two years.
Marksman,
Your EDC stuff is great if you carry them all . Looks like they take care of most situations. Great stuff!
I am wondering if I can pick up this rescue tool at bangalore.

Ok, so you have the LD01 SS model. Thats even better.
I own one Victorinox rescue tool, the same as what you are looking for . Not sure about the availability in Banglore but you can buy it from the outlets selling Victorinox stuff in Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai & Amritsar.

Another nice option from the Leatherman form factor is the CRKT Zilla tool pictured below. It gives the user a full blade with the correct ergonomics of a knife without the pliers or any other tool getting in the way. Also when you need the other tools they are there. Leatherman has also gone that way in terms of some of their knives. The basic is a knife (folder) and the tool bits are secondary.

Multitool is a daily companion, in addition the Camillus boot knife is a great fit, thanks to its sturdy clip on the sheath. I use slightly longer denims to ensure the boot knife stays concealed, especially when riding a bike. Recently updated picks My blade collection : Njoy

Thanks Rajat and Bruno for your infos.
I was not sure between swiss army rescue tool and blackhawk's hawkhook. The hawkhook is retailing around $50 in my city.

Anyone here used the hawkhook? Any experiences and comparisions between the Swiss Army rescue tool and this hawkhook? I feel these rescue tools come in handy in a highly urbanised environment. Do they compare better than knife-based tools for EMS situations?

For EDC, these days, I have swapped my old Victorinox for the Victorinox Soldier German Army version. Quite handy and since it has one hand opening for the big blade, fairly quick to deploy. I actually like the serrated chisel edge on the front as it helps in cutting and the straight chisel edge at the back is good for wood shaving or any other work. Also, it looks very classy with the simple olive handle and the etched German insignia.
I also pack the CRKT Zilla Tool over weekends or if I am going for a drive out of the city. Thank you Bruno22 for introducing this to my life. Very good multitool, built like a tank, and the knife blade deploys wicked quick. Also it has the ergonomics of a knife rather than a multitool. It takes some care to retain the edge, but it is quite easy to sharpen.
For camping I take the Leatherman Surge and my work horse Khukri. The Leatherman Surge is simply outstanding and the Khukri is very versatile in the forest.
