Why on Earth would you carry a Spyderco Tenacious when you have a ZT 550?

P.S.: The pics were a lot sharper this time.

You get these after market orange scales for the ZT's. This puupy will look damn sexy in one of those...Elemax ? Better wear a big belt and suspenders when carrying this in your pocket chief

Mack, you have a valid point :)

I do carry the ZT 550 sometimes. Its a heavy knife and even in denims, it draws unnecessary attention :) So, I carry the Tenacious for its dexterity, less weight, decent blade length and the fact that its a good, regular, no nonsense chap to hang around with. Also does not draw attention. There is something boy next doorish about the Tenacious. Whereas the ZT screams like the Badass that it is :)

I alternate between two EDC blades these days. Either the Tenacious or the super sexy, super cheap, super efficient, totally invisible, keychain blade ...The Boker Subcom

My keychain knife. Carried everywhere. No one can make out that its a knife. The outstanding Boker Subcom. This is designed by Chad Los Banos, a much acclaimed knife designer from Hawaii :)

The Boker Subcom as a very small blade. About 1.8 inch blade. When closed, this gorgeous blade is only 2.6 inches. It does not even look like a knife. And you can carry this anywhere.

I use this as my keychain.

The Boker Subcom, fits tight in the hand and I slip my little finger in the key ring and lock the knife in my hand. Now it cannot be taken away from me. It is like a sharp thumb. Great self defence knife.

One of my favourite knives is the SOG Trident.

Not only is this model a great size for EDC, but it's perfect as a fishing, camping, or hunting implement. The Trident notched handle allows you to use it as a seat belt cutter, or paracord cutter. I must confess that its not easy to use the notched handle and its almost gimmicky. But the pocket clip really rides low in the pockets and the blade on this is just wicked. The assisted opening is superb. Though this has a tendency to have a microscopic blade play, its nothing to worry about. Love this knife :D

First knife of 2013, just arrived. Just got the Benchmade 755 Mini Pocket Rocket. Its a little tank. I am having some issues with deploying the blade with the thumb flick. But its a matter of practice with a new knife.
The Benchmade 755 MPR (Mini Pocket Rocket) is the result of a partnership between Shane Silbert and Benchmade. This knife comes with a titanium monolock and a G-10 scale. It features an M390 steel blade that’s 2.9” long. This exotic steel is supposed to have high resistance to corrosion and should take a really sharp edge and retain it for longer. It has a pocket clip and a textured handle, and it’s even pretty light weighing in at 165 gms approximately... for its proportions. This knife reminds me of Manohar Aich...the Pocket Hercules :) You can’t go wrong with this because you can take it anywhere and put it in almost any pocket.

The Bark River Aurora, is a classic Bushcraft blade. The Knife was crafted by Mike Stewart and his mantra was to create an all round knife that got all the boxes ticked.

The impressive sheath is made by Sharpshooter and the blade fits snug and tight. There is no fear of it dropping off, since the contoured handle goes deep into the sheath.

The handle is superbly contoured with the palm swells that help in getting a good grip. Though, the handle scales are a bit slick and smooth for my taste. Not grippy enough. The other observation is that the handle scales could have tapered towards the blade, so that one can choke up on the blade better and do some fine work.

I like the tip. The drop point is strong and yet, can be used for some deft woodwork. Its almost like a reamer.

The blade has a convex grind. Now, this is one of the strongest grinds and usually the edge wont roll with heavy work. I do not keep my camp knives shaving sharp. That is usually counter productive in the field and can cause the blade edge to roll. And this blade is not a full flat grind either. Its a saber grind and that also allows this knife to be clamped and sharpened on a sharpening system....should someone be rude enough to do that.

The blade width is a bit less according to me. Another few centimeters would have allowed me to choke up on the spine better. But this is not a gripe.

The knife is extremely nimble. And is a good slicer, inspite of not having a pronounced belly.

All in all, a classic. Enjoy the pictures :)
