Thanks for your reply Subal... unfortunately 'www.xtremeknives.com' do not ship their products to India... although I have already written to them but chances of their shipment are very lean...

any other alternative...

best regards

once I got knife trough custom with a lot of military insignia on it. Like, used by top CIA, DEA, DOD etc operatives tactical knife, even the firm name was 5.11 tactical. So, I do not expect you to have any problems in custom, don't ask them to send it as a gift, pay import tax.

you never really know with Indian custom, recently I got parcel after one month been in custom, Fedex told me it is detained by custom, well, when I got it there was no any stamp on it and parcel was even never opened. If parcel was really detained then it is usually stamped, as been detained by custom. I think north20 exactly getting problems with Indian custom because they trying to outsmart them with providing this GIFT trick discount staff.

two more things, be sure that parcel insured and return address starts with : If undelivered please return to: . That means your sender ready to pay return charges for that parcel. Your knife will be not "lost", If it is insured ( cost only few $$), and sender ready to pay return charges.

good luck

It hurts, I know. Well, the knife's travelling continents. You'll have to pay for shipping, unless someone's coming from Italy who can carry it for you.

Jeff Cooper advocated four basic rules of gun safety:
1) All guns are always loaded. Even if they are not, treat them as if they are.
2) Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3) Keep your finger off the trigger till your sights are on the target.
4) Identify your target, and what is behind it.

Yes m24, I am also trying to convince myself some way or the other  I know the landed cost will be close to US$ 500

...but in the end... if everything goes well... I'll be having a good survival knife...

... let's see what happens in the customs... i am getting it thru Fedex priority... What will happen when the shipment reaches New Delhi custom office??? Will they call me? Do I have to give a reason for import??

Basically I am getting it for personal use in trekking / camping / adventure etc & i believe it is a valid reason to give if asked by authorities...

Please guide me...

thanks & regards

Subal... someone has warned me that the online tracking is not all that good with US Postal service and so I presume the custom clearance will also be not upto the mark...

...i don't know...

..I feel that Fedex [priority] people will take care of everything on my behalf... they clear customs too... I can talk to them... they will be like my men helping to get the job done... I think it is a very important aspect... somehow i am not convinced with US postal service... any shipment direct to my address is perfectly okay with postal service but this CUSTOM Clearance is not okay with postal service...

this cost i have to incur... if at all... i wish to sample my bithday cake with RAO

best regards...

best parcel called registered air mail and label will start with RR, tracking is not important at all.

regarding Fedex you are wrong I can tell by name guys from fedex custom clearance departments, they are all mess as it only can be. Best clearance work is in TNT. But packs with RR nobody even looking after.

when reputed master going to design and produce knife it is always eagerly awaited and usually best what money can buy. That was the same with Ray Dionaldo karambit fixed blade. And it is realty great knife to own.

before this karabit become available only equally good fixed karambit was Tarani designed Strider HS Karambit

great blade too, but cost usd350, Dionaldo's karambit little bit cheaper but you have to be lucky to find one

The Buck Vantage Select Large. Made of 420HC steel and sculpted Zytel scales.Large size Vantages have 3 1/4" (8.3 cm) blades. So it shouldn't create problem for us Indians. The blade shape is superb and reminiscent of the uber-expensive Sebenza. The Vantage deploys fast and smooth with its unassisted flipper design and features an oblong deployment hole for secondary actuation as well. The liner lock design is thin and adequately strong and produces a very thin carry knife in pocket. Carry weights are reasonable at 118.2 gram for Vantage Select Large. And the pocket clip has received some good reviews. So can't be that bad !!

But the biggest plus of this particular knife in my POV (Remember it's my POV) is the prise. This blade cost about 22.97 dollars !!

I know what Subal will say, " Investing in a knife is never a bad investment". And it's very true and practical. But sometimes, some cheap knifes aren't that bad.

Zake
