...while ordering arrows make sure the arrow is atleast 2 inches longer than the draw length of the bow. for 40lbs i think u will need a draw length of atleast 26-28inches for a man of normal height.

Are you saying that we needed or did not need an arms licence for blades with a length over 9" and width over 2"?

In fact it is only now that the import has been made free.Earlier even the import of arms of category 9307 was restricted.

Naga, herewith a couple of more memories. That particular bow's string was nothing but nylon clothes line and the bow used to creak when drawn. Do you still think it's the same as what the Mizos use? If I can get one of those and a bunch of arrows to go with it, I wouldn't be interested in buying an imported one. Thanks. P.S.: Regarding target bosses (the jute one's), they are available in Bangalore. Let me know which size you are interested in and I can ask my friend to look them up as he stays close to the shop.

25K is a very good budget to have. you should be able to find a very good TD recurve bow and a set of arrows. i havent bought a bow n arrows over the net for almost 5 yrs. need to hunt for my books. will get back to you asap.

gsmtih does not mention the brand or any draw length etc of the bow. neither do they mention the does, so i cannot comment on how good they are. but they do look very good.

for a target board, i use hitlon material. cut them into strips of 1 feet and roll them up to the size of ur choice. its easier to make and lighter to mave around. it is strong and can use a rope to mount it on a borad or peg it to the ground. i made mine in 2002, still going strong. i used 10mm hitlon and it take my arrows from my 35lbs compund bow without a problem.

hitlon is a packaging material. it comes in black and white colour. you get it most of the stores that stock upholstery. it come in 5mm, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm etc. will try and upload a pic of my borad.

Mack The Knife, for the budget you have quite a few options. I'm sure you can even make one yourself. Lots of plans online. Googled a few that I saw last time.

I'm sure there are more and can be adapted to materials available to you. You're crafty enough that I'm sure you can fashion one yourself. Come on, take this challenge a bit further and make one. Like Inder said, for your budget, or a bit more, you can go custom and still make out OK. Best of luck and let us know what you end up with.

BTW, Why recurve, why not long bow. I like the simplicity of the long bow.
