yes i had used a couple of times.the usps is a very efficient service, but once your shipment leaves usa it is not trackable.since you had used ebay ,may i ask you if you had used paypal?,in that case you wont be cheated, there is some clause in paypal which states some kind of insurance.
although most of the time when i had felt its too late for the package to reach me,in all probability your package is detained by the postal customs, and they wud send you a 'parcel detained letter' which generally reach you in arnd 25 days, then you need to go there in person, sure for the leatherman which they will consider a knife, with an invoice and pay a duty of 33% approx and get it out.
cheers sanjiv
nb:in my last exp with the postal customs i found that if theres a private sale thru internet the duty stands at only 16%,the above mentioned duties were related for certain parts for my bike.

I have received parcels via USPS.

Just ordered a fishing rod on 27th May. It cleared Bombay customs before noon on the 30th of May but it is still with Bangalore Postal Customs (they called me on Thursday).

Don't worry, you will get your parcel but sometimes it takes time. The longest I have waited is approximately one month for a parcel from Brownell's.

Dear Mack The Knife,
Was it the telescopic fishing rod ? I wanted to buy a whole set of light trout rod, reel and line. How much did you spend for the postage?

Thanks

Vikas

Hi Vikas,

It is a 3-piece 7' spinning rod via USPS Express Mail International. This allows you to track the parcel. http://trkcnfrm1.smi.usps.com/PTSIntern ... lDetail.do

Out of Foreign Customs, May 30, 2008, 12:02 pm, INDIA
Arrived Abroad, May 30, 2008, 11:35 am, INDIA
International Dispatch, May 28, 2008, 10:52 am, MIAMI
Processed, May 28, 2008, 8:46 am, MIAMI, FL 33112
Processed, May 27, 2008, 4:22 pm, MONTGOMERY, AL 36119
Electronic Shipping Info Received, May 27, 2008

Postage was a whopping $38.00 and as it turned out a waste of money considering the delay from Indian postal customs.

Thanks Mack The Knife.

I plan to get the stuff from Bass Pro Shop. How are they? Ever delt with them?

Your experience would help.

Vikas

Vikas, we are going off topic here, so apologies to the doc.

Angling friends in the U.K. usually rate Bass Pro to be better than Cabelas but unfortunately for us, BassPro seem to be a bit shy of India. They do not accept credit cards from India.

Good for you doc but bear in mind that there are some packages that do attract customs duty even if they are delivered to your door.
