Re: Indian Knife Site's
Esdee,
Are the traditional shoe shops in India not around any more? We used to get our shoes custom made when I was growing up.
They could copy pretty much any design, all you had to do was show them a photo.
They were quite advanced, especially in Kolkata. They could even make boots with a Goodyear welt.
The quality used to be very high and the fit was always exceptional, being tailored to each foot.

Re: Indian Knife Site's
Now this thread has gone totally OT......!!
Moin, I ain't an investment banker, bro! Only a poor FMCG Logistics manager!
XL, those shoemakers are going the way of the Royal Bengal Tiger now. Everybody wants the latest branded fluorescent piece of nylon and plastic to put on their feet - on some of them, you can't see the shoe for the logos!
Kolkata still has the Chinese in Tangra who still ply the trade, so I am told. In Mumbai there are a few in the old part of the city. The guy we CMG chaps source the leather from, makes shoes. I was thinking of trying him out, anyway.

Yup. Flipkart and amazon (dot in). They have some knives (mostly Mora and Gerber, which should serve a beginner quite nicely, and I came across Old Hickory, too). Also airguns, including Precihole. Hopefully these sites will improve market penetration of these goods!
Cheers!
