Stikage.com: What's your opinion?

Hello fellow IFGians!

I've always had the desire to get into Archery and I have now decided to start if off as a sport-de-loisir. With the suggestions of few members here, I've looked up a few websites that sell standard Archery gear and stikage.com caught my eye. I guess the products(though not an extensive range) are reasonably priced.

But, being a novice to stikage and for that matter the sport itself, I would really appreciate if you guys could advice me on the quality/reliability of the products and services offered by the folks at stikage.com. To be specific, I am looking at the '48lb fiber-glass complete bow set' offered by them. Any general advice on acquiring the equipment and kicking-off in the sport would also be commended. Thanks!

Any info on the quality of their goods? Anyone?

I purchased a coupla hiking poles from their ebay store (not directly) quite some time back. One was defective (the rubber cap on the end was absent, exposing the hard steel tip). I wrote a couple of mails on ebay contact over a week or so, but receiving no reply, gave a negative feedback. That brought a prompt reply - a phone call from the owner saying that if I had called they would have replaced the pole, and since I had already put in a negative reply they won't help me, thank you.

So, you can be assured that if you stick to 20th century means of communication, these guys will take care of you. My mistake was in assuming that someone with an online sales portal and presence on ebay would check emails at least once a week!!

As for the product, the remaining good pole has gone through a few reasonably mild treks without showing any wear and tear, and the quality is about as good as any PRC made product. You need to be a bit careful while extending the pole, else you will need to put it together again. The bad pole stays in the car for self defense purposes.

This is my honest-to-goodness report on the only transaction I had with these guys!

Thanks a ton essdee, that surely cleared a few doubts of mine. From your experience, I would rate them as poor in communication.

It would be great if someone could comment on their Archery Equipment as well.

AK, I wouldn't say they are poor in communication, rather that I should have called when I received no reply to my emails, rather than take the impulsive step of a negative feedback. My bad, actually!!

Gsmith also sells archery equipment, you can try there or Decathlon in Bangalore or Thane. No ideas about quality, though!

Relax mate! You're not the one jumping to conclusions here, it's me! It's just that I expect a merchant who has a presence online, at the very least, to reply to the queries of prospective customers.

Evidently, I was wrong in jumping the gun because I dropped a mail to them yesterday and got a revert within an hour or so. I stand corrected!

Still clueless about their product quality though! Looks like I'll have to find it out the hard way.

I have purchased archery equipment from stickage. The bow set is from China. They have a good amount of aluminium arrows. I have spoken at length with the owner in my visits there. His archery stuff is for entry level archers . I had bought a bow for my son , some aluminium and bamboo bows , and a target from them. No complaints.

That's cool tys. Their site says they have bows of poundage between 30-50 lbs. Now, did you get a bow with the draw weight in this range? If yes, wouldn't it be a little on the higher side for your kid to draw? I ask this because I believe one should start-off with a lower draw weight to build form and release.

I've ordered a set of Aluminum arrows myself from them and waiting for them to arrive.

BTW, I'm a novice myself to archery and thanks for your revert.
