Buying Gerber Machete
hi
i am planning to buy Gerber Gator Machete 25-inches model
GERBER Gator Machete Jr is available in outdoor travel gear but not the bigger cousin
not available in Oliver planet nor can i get it from abroad because of the blade length.
couple of months back it was on sale on ebay but the seller has taken it off the list. now i am trying to contact the seller directly now hope it works.
ANY IDEA WHERE CAN I GET THE SAME?......

Hmmm...I would recommend against getting this machete. The steel details are non-existent, which means the quality of steel is sub-par. It only looks wicked, and mall-ninja types, but I have serious doubts how well it will stand up to real work. If you intend to get one for real work, get a local one done from a blacksmith out of a JK file.

Try the Condor Machete's. You should be able to get them as agricultural implements.

my uncle has a machete done by the local blacksmith. its not well balanced and you won't feel comfortable holding it.
i taught gerber is a reputed brand so went with the order.

Re: Buying Gerber Machete
I own a GERBER Gator Machete Jr, and have used it a few times farming and reaping, both in the backyard & the farm land, I'm also sure it will help in a jungle trek too!
Its good and has its weight towards the front of the long blade, which helps slicing through easy with the flick of your wrist.
The scabbard that comes along with it is a great help for carrying / sheathing .. Helps in places where u haven't got someone to hold your tools for you while u work, for eg. if you need to chop something while climbing a tree.
Gerber is a product by Fiskars, and is fairly good, and the blade sharp enough to do most things in the field.
As Sachin would say, "go get it!"

Re: Buying Gerber Machete
From what I've read, Gator Sr. has a half tang(or less) & it should be the same for Jr. too.
At first, an order was placed for the Sr. two months back on OTG but i changed it to Gator Bolo machete after reading on the tang info. The steel used is 1050. Bolo is full tang, well balanced, hefty enough & is holding up good to some action. It will rust at the edge if not taken care properly.
