Wow, nice knives and great pictures!

The comparison of the Little Creek and the Candiru was very interesting. The pictures support your observation that Candiru is a better designed knife. Its just that the handle of the Candiru is a little bit smaller but I think the larger surface area due to the curved design compensates for the smaller size. Is this correct?

The comparison with the 91 mm Swiss knife really shows how small both the Little Creek and the Candiru are.

Balanced 1/2" inch behind the first corby bolt does not speak much about the design. Not good I would say.
The Canadian Special being the best for me
When are you getting another Canadian Special then? :D

About the North Star: point noted. It seems you wont let me buy one! :) Dunno why but I like the Northstar but appreciate your critical review of the knife.

So far the sheath design of the Mini Fox seems to be the best to me.

Ok so the Fox Magnun is next and it will be followed by

Hi TC,
Not into collecting and neither can I afford that luxury. I am currently trying out a few that have taken my fancy and then selling off the remainder once I have figured out for myself which small, regular and large knife suit my needs.

Correct! The larger handle width of the Candiru is also a factor.

Not bad either.

After I get an Aurora, I will decide whether to stick with the Aurora or sell it and get another Canadian Special.

If you are going to get it, now's a good time to get one. KSF have just put them on 'Closeout'. Infact, I logged on to PM you this bit of info but saw your post first. http://www.knivesshipfree.com/

I tend to agree with that as well. The one for the CDPH is also good, except mine (the second one) has a small flaw with the cross-draw slot...they cut it short and a bit untidily at that. Will fix it one of these days.

The Aurora.

The Aurora, Bravo, Gunny, Gameskeeper etc all share a similar handle design, smaller or larger, so it might be good but I am still betting on the Canadian Special. Keep us informed.

You are right... without the internet we would all be living in our own worlds..

I used to get bits and pieces of information on knives from the American Rifleman which I used to subscribe to since I was 16. But it was not enough so I bought a couple of books on knives... And of course there was my dad, an excellent hunter, an engineer and master in metallurgy.
And then came you guys.... the real gurus :)

Small update on the knives.

Getting used to the shorter handle (for me) on the Fox River. A few licks on the strop every now and then is bringing out a wicked edge on this knife. Other than paper, this knife still hasn't cut anything else.

Wore the Little Creek to work on my belt yesterday. It's so light, small and reasonably flat, you wouldn't even know it's there. Used it to cut open three cement bags and the third bag was cut almost as easily as the first. Cement bags are pretty abrasive. This was with the factory edge, which is good but not great. Honed and stropped the edge last night and it's a lot sharper. Doesn't take much time doing this - 10 to 15 minutes at most. Still wish the blade was thinner. The Izula-IIs and BRK Mini Fox River have cut cement bags a little more efficiently but that was not with a factory edge and the larger more comfortable handles also play a part I am sure.
