Have a look at the Victorinox showrooms. They used to have one common showroom at Brigade Road but are now scattered about the various malls. Unfortunately, you never get to see the full range at any one of these new places.

A few gunshops sell knives too. Try getting one made in Kerala by a Blacksmith the next time you're there.

No need to go as far as kerala also. In shivajinagar itself there are blacksmiths but the location is a bit shady. The other option is to seek one on Kanakpura road - shouldnt be tough there.

if you dont want the fancy ones.. go to avenue road on sundays.. there is a big mela every sunday. mainly everything under the sun is sold there.. I went there to buy weights for my home gym got them at half the price of sports shop's quote..

there i saw lot of "agricultural implements" commonly known as long, short etc.. they are made from the leaf springs of trucks.. finish not very good.. you can ask them if they can make one to your design.. think they will oblige.. I also saw axeheads and axes..

One can get knives of various sizes and shapes at damn cheap rates in Mysore. I bought one (a very lengthy one) just opposite the zoo, at the parking lot for Rs 40 from a Sikh lad. He also had sickles of different sizes and was selling them for as cheap as Rs 100. However, all these were handcrafted and the handles were made of iron. They looked crude, but were very sharp.

Hi Viper, I do share your love for big blade knives but if you are a user and not a collector then do take a look at the link below:

It's a very practical alternative to always having one with you at all times. Carrying a 4-6 inch fixed blade may not be a very easy task in public. Its great to keep at home and show it to your friends.
You do need to evaluate your situation before buying a knife. I definitely will not recommend this for a two week intensive expedition in a harsh environment as your primary blade. You will need something substantial and heavy.
This does great for a two day hike in the woods or a picnic with the family which is what most of us do. :D

I am surprised to see no mention of CRK - take a look at the Sebenza. They are the best folders money can get. Yes, at ~$400 a piece, it seems very costly, but long term usage reports are extremely good. Besides, each knife is hand finished by Chris himself, and they are known to have the best tolerances.

Chris is the guy who collaborated to bring us S30V and now S35VN.

Dear Viper,

I found a shop in Esteem Mall, Hebbal (1st floor) which deals with BaseCamp, WildCraft, etc. They ahve got Bear Grylls series og adventure gear from Gerber. You can get the Bear Grylls series knives from them.
