Dear Volunteers,
This is in continuation to our previous mails regarding your desire to volunteer in WWF-India’s activities.
Many of you have opted to participate in field related activities. In order to give you a chance to understand WWF-India’s conservation efforts at the grassroots level, we are organizing a volunteer engagement program at Kanha Tiger Reserve from 19th June- 21st June 2010.
Agenda for the program:
You are expected to reach Mandla, MP on 18th evening. Activities will be conducted on 19th and 20th of June. You can leave Mandla by the after noon of 21st June.
Please note that you will have to bear the expenses of your travel to Mandla and back. Local transport, food, and accommodation for 19th-21st will be taken care of by WWF-India.
Activities for the days:
1. You will get a chance to visit the villages surrounding Kanha Tiger Reserve and get a first hand experience to witness and understand tribal lifestyles and their views about wildlife and forest conservation.
2. You will be taken to visit the Community Conservation Centre near Khatia. This centre demonstrates the activities WWF-India conducts with the local communities in the nearby villages to help them build sustainable livelihoods.
3. WWF-India runs a Mobile Van which goes into the villages in the evening to spread awareness amongst the communities about the importance of conservation. You will get a unique chance to travel with the Mobile Van and assist the WWF team in spreading awareness through interaction with the villagers.
4. WWF-India also engages in afforestation activities to restore tiger habitat. We will organise a Plantation Drive where you can assist the WWF officials and forest guards in planting samplings in the areas chosen for afforestation.
This is a great opportunity for you to experience and understand WWF-India’s conservation efforts around Kanha Tiger Reserve and also contribute to conservation by participating in the above mentioned activities.
If you would like to participate in this event, please reply to this mail by 5:00 PM, Friday, 4th June 2010. We will send you further details regarding accommodation and the activities once we receive your confirmation.
Warm regards,
Sonali

Jeff Cooper advocated four basic rules of gun safety:
1) All guns are always loaded. Even if they are not, treat them as if they are.
2) Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3) Keep your finger off the trigger till your sights are on the target.
4) Identify your target, and what is behind it.
