Dear friends being a hunter myself, i was shocked at what i saw being described as "shooting".
Just wanted to bring this to your attention. Cant believe this goes on in the 21 century. talk about providing ammo to the antis.

Disgusting, disgraceful and I wish they are tried, convicted and imprisoned. While not denying that things like that do happen,it is also possible that antis sometimes "cook up" videos to tarnish the legitimate and ethical gun owners.

Quite FRANKLY IFGians, Not only am I against this kind of hunting, but I am totally AGAINST all kinds of posts which depict hunting of any kind from across the world. Quite recently, i have seen, Pheasant hunts, Duck shoots, posts on this forum, and I am quite sure people at CAFI would point out to such posts and hold all of us in poor light. Secondly, there are many impressionable young minds viewing these posts, who would be motivated to take their air guns out and mimic these posts by shooting innocent creatures.
I request the seniors at IFG to ponder on these posts seriously.

The other question that needs to be asked of hunters is "what is the sane, sensible, civilised number of kills in a hunt", even when licences are issued to keep animal population in check what should be the number of kills that satisfy the sportsman ? We've seen photographs of erstwhile Maharajas with more dead tigers than men - and that too on a single hunting day. One such royalty from the Central Province had the distinction of killing the last known specimens of a certain cheetah species to a round of applause. I cannot appreciate the mindless display of birds and even fishes that people bring to tragic end in numbers more than they or their friends can consume. Hence the question once again - how much can pass off as game , as a hobby. Love of gore is not the quality of the sportsman and any display of the same should be ignored (..one can do little in these times of tempestuous minds).

I don't see anything wrong posting legal hunting posts done in a fair chase manner and I fail to understand why legal hunting will put us in a poor light? . If CAFI people don’t agree with hunting then we should ask them to shove it up like we are asking them in case of guns.

Hmmmm I am really surprised to see this line here. Most of the time I hear this line from anti's "People will massacre each other once guns are made legal" and your above line is just same.
This forum stayed out of this PC'ness since the start and I hope that owner and mods will let it stay like that. Guns are not used for self defense and target shooting only. Being a forum with people across the world, there should be no discrimination between legal usage of guns.

That's not hunting by any stretch of that word's definition. In the old flintlock days a turkey would be tethered behind a log big enough for the turkey to peek out over it, but with its body always hidden; and the shooting done with ball at a hundred yards, not shot. That took real skill with a rifle to win that prize. That was the traditional turkey shoot.
What's depicted is nothing but "kill your own turkey with a shotgun". It's probably no less humane than the killing of a turkey in a slaughter house, being hung up by its feet on a conveyor belt and having it's throat cut. But to show that on the tube wouldn't serve a political purpose, would it now?

I saw some fat pigs shooting turkey , sooner or later the pig itself is shot.
probably when fetching a dead turkey after a very corageous shoot, when his sorry a*s is not noticed by those who are missing the poor turkey by a good 6-10 inches.
will server the pig good.
Shame !! there are people alive who are like this? and did anyone notice one of the pigs went ahead and stroked the turkey for a while as if really concerned, I was shocked to see the first bullet homming in.
I wish someday the gun misfires or some richochet is there and the pig gets served, please god Please.

HVJ1 and Goldfinger,
Thank you for raising some interesting points.
Quite FRANKLY IFGians, Not only am I against this kind of hunting, but I am totally AGAINST all kinds of posts which depict hunting of any kind from across the world. Quite recently, i have seen, Pheasant hunts, Duck shoots, posts on this forum, and I am quite sure people at CAFI would point out to such posts and hold all of us in poor light..
Legally, responsibly and scientifically managed hunting is probably the best way to preserve, conserve and manage wildlife and their habitat. We all have our views about what is right and what is wrong based on our personal moralities. However, most of the time, physical forces, nature, economy and politics operate beyond this personal frame work.Hunting has been a part of human life and wishing that away is not really practical. At best it encourages poaching and all we need is to take a look around us in all over India. One must understand that the biggest threat to wildlife is not from sport hunters but market poachers and destruction of habitat. There are umpteen examples form all over the world where actually responsible and legal hunters helped preserve a number of species, large tracts of wildlife habitat, help and support the economies and social life of local communities etc. When a hunting habitat is preserved and managed, an entire ecosystem is being preserved and allowed to continue living sustainably. The posts you see are the results of such wonderful conservation efforts.Wetlands and marshes ,thriving ecosystems, preserved by hunters-probably the only bulwarks against encroachment by concrete civilisation. Please go through the link below to find out the kind of conservation these guys are into.
Even WWF acknowledges that legal and scientifically managed hunting is an integral part of conservation.
I understand the moral dilemma about taking a life and taking a life to preserve others. It is synonymous to meat eating and animal husbandry. If both are not wrong, legal and responsible hunting is no less,if not better.
Secondly, there are many impressionable young minds viewing these posts, who would be motivated to take their air guns out and mimic these posts by shooting innocent creatures.
I request the seniors at IFG to ponder on these posts seriously.
I understand where you are coming from and accept to a certain level, but from a different angle.Without having an understanding the values and knowledge of wildlife conservation and responsible hunting, it is easy to mistake the mere act of killing something and posing with it to stoke the shrivelled egos with sport hunting. As generations of people have been denied an opportunity to own guns, they, the people also ended up being completely ignorant about them apart from having developed many irrational misapprehensions about guns.I see your point that as we strive to spread awareness of responsible and gun ownership, we also need to spread the awareness about ethical, legal and
responsible sport hunting and it's vital role in conservations of wildlife and habitat.
We shall certainly try to come up with some literature in that direction.Meanwhile, if you would like to come up with your opinions, we can have a nice discussion.
Goldfinger, valid points and I completely agree with the points you raised. I never understood the way the folks like the ones you mentioned piled up huge numbers of animals and birds in a single day. However, in modern times, where properly managed, there are quota numbers, types of game that can be hunted, age ,sex and seasons they can be hunted clearly mentioned and restrictions are firmly in place and enforced.
