Around this time of year i try to get over the watar , to have a holiday maybe some surf and most of all some hunting .
In the uk i have two lurchers that i take on some off my nearer over seas trips as they both have thier pet pass ports.
Being honest hunting with dogs is my preferred sport but so far this year i've been to slovakia boar hunting with rifles. I also do quite a bit of duck and game shooting here in the uk.
I also have a theoben rapid 7 that i use regularly for rabbits and vermin.
I've just in the last three months been over to Indonesia pig hunting with dogs too this is a national sport out there . I realize this is a shooting forum but it's all i could find .
what I'm looking for is as much info that i can find even contacts names or where is the best place's .
i love India and a few years ago spent some time in Gujarat with the earth quake victims . that is when i fell in love with the place . unfortunately it's all vegetarian up there so there is more chance of a pig replying to this post then hunting up there .
if any of you guys can help any offers considered or pointers i'd be very grateful . i am not a time waster or anti as we do have a lot of problems in the uk with them.
hopefully i've put some pics of hunting on my travels .
many thanks in anticipation of the indian hospitality i know i can rely on.
when i get a min i will post the write up of my Indonesia trip and i'm hoping to do a video diary and write up on this trip.

Hi mate,

Welcome to IFG,would love to hear about your travels and hunts.
Not one to be a harbinger of bad news, but hunting is 'banned' in India  .

You will have to use an image upload/hosting portal like Woopics or flickr. You can then supply the URL of the image in your post or use the URL provided by the portal for image display inside forum posts.

Hope that Helps.

Hi Woodyapex,

Welcome to IFG. Interesting to know about your hunting adventures.Unfortunately, in India all hunting is banned except in certain circumstances. In your case, unfortunately, it is almost impossible.Sorry.

But, take heart in the fact that there is some superb fishing to be had.Our own Mack The Knife can educate us on fishing. Meanwhile check this out. www.indianangler.com Your best bet on finding some superlative fishing.

Best-
Vikram

Welcome Woddy apex, to IFG. Well, as you must be aware, India is a wide and distributed place with a lot to see and experience. But there is nothing in the books for hunting. Some people do get to shoot occasionally at scheduled pests like pigs, which cause havoc in and around their farms, but this is not a regularity, in most cases.
Of course, there are several spots for good fishing, in river and salt water. Different regions of India have different 'good' spots for fishing. Down south where I live, the fishes of the Cauvery river are more of a challenge; but I am just a beginner and am yet to explore deeper. http://www.indianangler.com should give you a good window in the several good anglers and their tales.
We also have onboard, good mentors like Mack The Knife, who will, many times, go out of their way to help out. Pran, Ranjeet, Inderjeet are some others who enjoy the sport. Where we fish around Bangalore, its the Mahseer we are after, alongwith the Murrel and other fishes. Some of us usually take a picture and release the fish into the water, which is a must with the Mahseer, while some other fishes can end up on the dinner table.

Great to hear about your involvement in the aftermath of the tragedy. I am sure several good souls would appreciate your efforts.
.. But its surely not all that veggy around here :) , if you know what I mean.

Try the following links, which have a detail of how best to upload a pic on the forum. Since photo attachments on this forum is disabled, we basically use an external image site like Photobucket and just add the link on the post :)
