sniper bhai.. i have no idea about fruit bats being protected or not.. i only copied and pasted from the schedule V.
anyways. how will one identify if its a fruit bat or some other bat.. unless he shoots it and then checks it physically..
{it would be like.. bang.. oops, I am a criminal.. }
I would not shoot at any bat like object ever.. for that matter what i something far away looks like a crow and after shooting you come to know its some other black bird like a cuckoo or some other bird you mistook for a crow. What will you do then?? bury it??or turn yourself in at the nearest police station??
best is to keep to shooting tins and cans (my personal opinion)

I have never seen a chicken or goat in front of a firing squad. guess shooting them would be legal as they are bred to have their throats slit anyways. its their dharma i guess.. mode of slaughter is not mentioned anywhere in the law. many years back i have seen a butcher strangling a chicken in a meat shop on a customer request (he wanted to take it home and clean it.. didnt want blood in his bag)

Re: ????List of Vermins-Schedule V animals ?????
indian wild life protection act got an amendment on 2002. In which two bat species(saalimali-bat,woranghoutan faced bat) out of 13 bat species put in shedule 1.kindly note that these two species are not easily visiblein normal areas & even for reserch watchers. In my opinion the other 11 bat species still under shedule 5 and bat reserchers are raising their voice to in clude the rest also. Yet now no body has mentioned this change in this forum eventhough it was done well before...hihi now only i also gone throu the amendment .... no update post 2002... !!??
Any recent amendment......??

There are many kinds of research, but the species I'm familiar with that is used for conducting research is the Xenopus laevis. If I could be assured that they would not turn them loose in the wild, I'd get a couple for my grandkids.Is frog is included in the vermin of india. ??

Are you aware of a species indigenous to India that's used for research?
