Hunting

Post by kragiesardar » Sun Nov 09, 2008 9:17 pm

Hunting with my brother and nephew in Texas. Brno 601 in 30.06. Both animals taken with one shot. Corsican Ram and Axis deer (Cheetal). The Axis was taken running all out. Going to get the Ram mounted and the Cheetal made into a rug. The meat of the Cheetal will be made into Desi pickle using my wife’s family recipe.
Spot and stalk, used Ziess compact 10 x 25B and Leupold 3 X variable. Texas resembles the scrub forests of central India, rocky, hot, drhttp://indiansforguns.com/mods/bbcode_box/images/img.gify and a lot of stunted trees. Visibility was low.
We also saw some beautiful Blackbucks, next time I am going to hunt them. The guide told me that Blackbuck, Axis (Cheetal) and Neelgai breed freely in Texas and have now become free ranging in some areas like the Axis we shot. Also Texas has the most density of Tigers in the world as ranchers keep them as pets as there are no laws against doing that in Texas. Oryx is now being reintroduced in some parts of Africa from Texas and Pierre Deer is extinct in China but Texas has a thriving population.
Only in America! Now only if I can export some of those double rifles or single shot rifles from India I would be all set!!
