"In separate trials, BigDog runs at 4 mph, climbs slopes up to 35 degrees, walks across rubble, and carries a 340 lb load."

This is an amazing machine..... would love to have one as a pet :) :)

The best part of the video on the website link above, was when the guy kicked it from the side, and it retained it balance...

Apart from being an item for hunting, I cant stop thinking of the utility value of this marvel :)
A slightly bigger version may well bring back the old west styles, with people traveling on top of these without caring for the potholes on the road...

... who needs roads then :)

The balancing act in the slippery surface shows great response and recovery time... almost as good animals, and considering the load carrying capacity, it looks better than animals.. :)

Yep its amazingly self aware and can balance really well. Reaction time and mobility is awesome.

Maybe with :D Kevlar coated reactionary armor which only transmits the shock to touch sensitive panels, which makes the bot fall down like a dead animal. You hit the reset button from your remote vantage point and tadaaaa its up again :P. Sorry cant help it, its the second day of the week so I'm a tad delusional :? :P.
