In India only rodents and the common crow are legally classified as "pest" species (under schedule 5 of the Wildlife Protection Act) and may be disposed off freely without the requirement of prior permission. For more please see the following thread here -

These "Pest" shooting especially crows can land you in trouble with police if you decide to exterminate them within populated city limits. You could also grab head lines if if some wild life enthusiast decides to make hue and cry about it. Shooting Rats wearing Bata Hunter boots at night with a powerful torch and a B.S.A. Meteor Airgun, was almost an every night affair for a few like minded friends during school days. We all had become expert shooters and enjoyed every moment of it in spite of our neighbors calling us names like "Chooha Maar mulsipalty" I hold the record for shooting 71 rats in a single night. Gud ole days. Try it out. It's a lot of fun. Avoid scopes and learn to shoot at them while they are running. Nobody will mind either except the sweeper next morning.
Cheers!!!

ps:This privilege is applicable within Indian Union only.

Mundaire, you are slightly of the mark. Not all rodents are varmints. Porcupine is a good example. rats, crows, mice and bandicoots are the only vermin and incidently except crows the rest are rodents

I have offered nobody any advice to shoot Varmints.
By listing the species it is only to highligt the quarry species in pursuit by Varmint bore centrefire calibres like 22 Hornet, a popular fox control round in UK and Europe and other centrefires like .222, .223, 22-250, 22 Swift, 5.6 x 57 etc.
Of course under the current law fox hunting or hares are not allowed to be shot in India and none should attempt to do so.
It is another matter how many partridge egg are destroyed by foxes or a pack of jackals spreads rabies in the villages, you have to tolerate them and watch game diminish. This is India, it happens only in India.
Even our lowly neighbours, pakistan have access to better arms / ammunition and better hunting.

Nobody said you had but what you did offer could get Ketan or someone ignorant of the law into big trouble. Bear in mind that there are many who do not even know about the existence of the Wildlife Protection Act 1972.
I realise you are very keen to participate on such subjects but temper your advice with a little caution in future. Not that I have not been guilty of the same in the past.
This site is read by the anti-hunting brigade and we don't want to give these blighters any reason for making it any more difficult for the one thing us chaps can still own with relative ease - airguns.

Thankyou everyone for your valuable suggestion on my topic i had ask this question coz, I am feed up of crows why ? tell you that.
I belongs to a fisherman,s family (Koli Family). In rainy season our trollers r shut down
so for these four monts of rain we have to eat dry fish
so before june we start collecting dry fish like (sukha jhinga, sukha bombil, sukha bangda)etc
& keep them on terrace for kadi dhup so that they can be stored for four months while this process these crows comes in numbers & eat like anything nothing is left behind.
Also at night there is the same old story with rats
thats why i wanted to shoot them & to give them a hell of a death.
Anyways thanks once again everybody.
thanks & regards
ketan.
