which is the best round to bring down a turkey???? is a KF enough or wld a hper-velocity round or mebbe a hollow point be required

Since hunting is legally banned in India, besides the only turkeys you'll find here would be domesticated ones raised on farms... So you would likely be going on a turkey shoot only in N. America - and over there using KF ammunition when vastly superior ammo is available at a fraction of the cost would be carrying the "be Indian buy Indian" mantra a little too far, wouldn't you agree?

AFAIK only shotguns are used on turkey shoots in USA... they typically use special magnum turkey loads, in pump action or semi-auto shotguns...

.22mag is used in some places in usa.rest all, its shotgun...in canada u can use only no.4,5,6.generally,turkey loads with flight control wads r used

Turkeys are tough birds! As mentioned 22 magnum is the bare minimum and even then there are quite a few lost birds unless hit solidly, or in the head. (and as casual as that sounds, it is extremely difficult to hit one in the head with a rifle. Next time you see one, either in real life of on TV watch the head and notice it is most always moving) I would suspect those that do hunt with a rifle -not allowed in the state I live in- will use a 222 or 223.

As mentioned, shotguns (using an extra-full choke) and a shot size from 4 to 6 standard. Shot larger than 4 is usually not allowed for safety reasons (more lethal to humans and not noticeable more effective on birds.)

But mainly, no matter where you are, if you shoot a turkey with a 22 LR it is going to go a couple kilometers or so before it expires, which does neither you nor the bird any favors.

Don't forget the Archers. In the US there's quite a few people who Bow hunt for turkey.

i doubt only a few states allow that kind of arrows i have many friends who bowhunt turkey but im yet to see this special one but there is no doubt that it has a devastating effect.

If you watch the video, I may be mistaken but it appears the distances are all less that 10M. It does not look like the arrow would be effective at much longer distances than that, I imagine it bleeds energy awful fast.

hi mark as i have already said,i have never seen an arrow like that.i didnt think of the range...but turkeys are really tough birds
