It arrived yesterday from the Taxidermists in England, the Springbok I had shot last year in South Africa with a good 10 1/2 inch horns.

Now it gets a pride of a place in my study in the Dubai house.

nice trophy.which taxidermist in england if i may ask. my understanding is that there are good taxidermists in SA who can do beautiful work at a fraction of the cost. any particular reason for choosing english taxidermists?
which gun did u use?also if you can describe the outfitter you used and your experiences, it would be very helpful. besides, im sure there are other members who would like to know more about shikar in south africa.
i notice you have gone with the 'in style' currently popular shoulder mount without shield. is that a co- incidence or a personal preference?

It is not really my choice. The concession holder recommended him, and we got it done. His craftsmanship is high class which even the SOuth Africans agree.

Of course there would be many equalyy good taxidermists in SA as well, but today all economics is global, if this English firm can match quality, price and logistics then he competes with his SA counterparts.

There are a host of Safari operators in SA. THis one called Wingshoot Safairs in close to J burgh. I have contacts for about a dozen, will post them all here for others to refer to.

But undesrstand. THis is no massacare going on there. We go on normal business trips with 2 or 3 days for a bit of sport more towards the weekend and bag limits ( self imposed ) are being maintained.

as it is they say ( i have read in one safari website) that no meat goes waste in africa. no matter how much one shoots, it is always consumed as there are extra mouths to feed etc etc. no PH would deplete his stocks by allowing clients to go OTT.
i want to hunt there as well. i have got many addresses over the internet but wanted to hear from the horses mouth.
i do agree it is a beautiful piece of craftsmanship.
may i have the name of the taxidermist?

Hunting a leopard is very much possible, but it requires at least two weeks of time in tracking and shooting.

Trophy price is about $ 4000.

I will post a topic with names, e mails, fax, phones of all the concession holders I know of in SA, Zim, Iran, Turkey, Eastern Europe, Spain, NZ and Argentina.

Would you all require UK addresses as well ?
