The Photography Thread

Post by kshitij » Thu Oct 22, 2015 11:31 am

The wildlife photography thread has had many photographic gems shared by our members. However the opportunity to shoot wildlife (with a camera) are few and far spaced for people like me living in a city. So this thread is for sharing the other photographic genres like landscapes, candid, street, so on and anything else one might want to share.

I'll start with few images i have taken on the streets of Mumbai. These are mostly of people going about their daily life and grind in the city i love and grew up in.

Most of these were taken on the move or while at a traffic stop. The last image is of the queens necklace at night. Of all the images of mumbai that i clicked, this is one of my favourite.

@Mack the knife,
Beautiful!! Where was that taken? Looks like you guys are on a small boat.

Here are few I took a few years back during a visit to my nativeplace in manglore. It is the annual bull races before the harvest season and is quite an event for the local folks.

We were in a coracle on a lake called Forbes Sagar. Rub-a-dub-dub, three men in a tub,...... :D

First time I have seen pics of a bull race within a ring. Very nice!

Some of your candids are very reminiscent of Cartier-Bresson.

@dr.jayakumar, looking forward to your contributions :)

@mack,
"three men in a tub" :lol:
The bull races were not within a ring. They were actually two parallel tracks that were dead straight. Kinda like what you have for quater mile drag races, but instead of tarmac the tracks were made of mud slush.
I have always liked Cartier Bresson's photographs. Though my true love is wildlife photography, street/candid is what i do to keep the trigger/shutter finger busy :P

Thanks for the clarification and keep clicking away.

I just hate these new fangled cameras without a viewfinder. Half the time I cannot see the ruddy screen due to the Sun at my back.

I don't go 'ghooming' as much as I used to and consequently cannot justify a bridge camera. A DSLR is quite out of the question. Perhaps I should sell some fountain pens and put the proceeds towards a half decent camera with a viewfinder.

Damn you! :mrgreen:
