Night fishing – Hi-Tec

Watching kids play with new generation electronic toys certainly gave me some ideas which worked.
Last month I drove down to my in-laws place located on the border of Sidhi & Reva Districts, it was hot & terrible. The car inmates were exhausted with the 12 hour drive. So was I, but the beautiful landscapes change in vegetation & above all so few villages & people & even better, hardly any traffic, just made my day.
Location of my in-laws farmhouse
Located 1 km parallel to the son river, & the only markets were either 12 kms towards Sidhi distt or 10 kms towards Reva distt. The house is on a hillock & a beautiful lake ahead about 15 acres big & another one at the rear also about the same size both used for fish farming.
Well it was not here that I tried
My equipments
I had taken with me some anchor shaped triple hooks some 40 Lb line (of course Chinese make) & little led lights with the button cells, broken of my sons toys.
The Grand Fishing Trip
What was left was to waterproof the led lights, the best option “a pack of condoms” was bought for the purpose (I had a hell of a time explaining someone how exactly I intended to use them)
I put the green & red led with 2 button cells in the FL got the air out & tied a knot.
With the waterproofing done I tied this very close, in fact almost on the hook.
It was almost 19:30 & the son river was looking beautiful, the flowing water was clear & we were in good “spirits” too.
A local acquaintance had indicated a deep patch were the big fish were, there is a lot of variety of fish in this river though, Mahaseer, Goonch (fresh water shark) were of my prime interest
Since I did not have a rod nor a reel I used empty coke bottles to wind up the line.
It was almost dark when I made my first cast. It was a flop. The rubber floated & never sank neither did the hook. So I tied a marble size pebble & attached it about 12 inches further to the hook so the pebble would rest on the river bed, the hook with the FL would be about 12 inches above the river bed making it more visible to the fish.
I cast again
Within 1 ½ minutes there was a pull & we pulled out a beautiful 4 Kg Mahaseer.
We re cast the electronic Hi-Tec tackle & in no time we got a rohu almost 7 Kgs.
In all within 30 mts we got about 2 Mahaseer & 3 Rohu’s & 3 others whose name I do not recollect at this time. No fish was less than 4 Kgs. & all 3 FL’s were ruptured by the bite, & in the process of removing the hook from the fishes mouth
Since I did not carry my camera that day no snaps could be taken but the next day I did catch a 7.5 Kg Goonch, using chicken liver as bait. The pictures are taken with my cell-phone camera.
