Fishing at Manchinbelle with Inder and Pran

Post by Mack The Knife » Wed May 02, 2007 5:48 pm

This was truly a blank trip. Not only did none of us get a bite but there was no sign of fish either. I suppose one gets spoiled fishing the WASI stretch.

We had to leave at 9:30 a.m. instead of the usual early morning start and that was probably mistake number one. However, it couldn't be helped. To make matters worse we had to leave for Bangalore by 2 p.m. as Inder had to be at office by 4 p.m.. Or so he claimed...

Unlike Asif, I don't carry a thermometer on me so cannot give you the exact ambient temperature  but suffice to say that the rocks and lack of shade made it anything but pleasant but neither was it unbearable.

I reeled in at 1:45 and headed to the car but there was no sign of Mutt and Jeff. Finally found them and after giving them an earfull of untypeable language, we packed the tackle, polished off the tea and sandwiches and headed home.

A few kilometers down the road, Inder very calmly tells me that he isn't going to office because he was tired. He must lead a charmed life because my ability to resist the urge to throttle the son-of-a-gun was successful.

Some pics for you chaps...

Nice pictures Mack The Knife.I returned empty handed many a time but grateful that I managed to spend a day in the outdoors doing what I like and where I like to be.Thanks for sharing.

Trivia. The biggest banyan tree in the world is just a few miles away from my dad's native village in Anantapur.

Hi Vikram,

I am no stranger to blank trips but when there is no sign of fish (at least where we were told to try), it's pretty puzzling.

No complaints though, I'll knowingly go for such trips than sit at home.

Anyway, wifey's leaving for the U.S. on the 7th, so I am taking my sons fishing on the 8th, 9th and 10th and that will be a real fun trip. You should have seen their faces when I told them this morning and I will bet you a quid they will talk about fishing in their sleep tonight.

Being outdoors is better than sitting at home.

But did feel a need for conservation.Fishermen need to be stopped from netting the place for a while.

Asif,
Haven't really given up on Manchibele(this was my 3rd unsuccessful trip)
Riaz from IA is having great luck at this place. But then again as Mack The Knife says its the lack of activity that's a little discouraging

Got the hooks.Sent you a Pm yesterday.Thanks.

Mack The Knife,Inder
The water hole we stopped at on our way back looked promising too.Guess we should try our luck there sometime.

Fat chance, she is there for three days and going to be in conferences from morning to night and she does not have her hotel details yet so cannot even have some goodies sent over.

BTW, besides Cabelas do you know of any other good online shooting and fishing stores that would post to a third party in the U.S. and to India?

What I would really like her to bring back is a take down recurve or a compound bow.
