Hi IFGians,
Really curious about this. Gordon Ramsey goes hunting with tribals in Nagaland and gets a deer...seriously. Here is the Youtube clip of the hunt.
Sorry to bring this up again but there was no response to the last post so am posting again to see if anyone can whet my curiosity on this. In the episode when Gordon is told they are going on a hunt the next morning he responds with a surprised "I thought that was not allowed" and was then told that since it was tribal land it was OK ! Is this really the case in nagaland ?

well the chef does swears a lot, so he is banned. hunting is not allowed unless the village council says so.

Naga,
Would you know whether the wildlife on the tribal lands has increased over time.
Or has it stabilized at a certain level?
I only ask because i dont know what kind of control there is on hunting? Any census carried out, so that you know that x amount of animals can be harvested per capita?
I am guessing also that with the nationwide poaching going in the tribal lands should be in a better position.
If i seem ignorant about this issue, please forgive me but i am hence i ask.

nay mate, we eat them all up, if one is lucky one may see a sapprow fly. (more like shot dead)
saying that in some parts they only allow seasonal hunting and tend to be bit strict if got caught hunting.
end of the day who is to say to one that you can not hunt in yor own land?
no Census taken this side,
i have not heard on one single case of a hunter being fined/jailed by the police etc, only fine is done by the village level etc

I do believe that in certain parts of the state, the jungles are completely devoid of any wildlife.

almost but we do find one or two items of interest if we search far and deep. we nagas just love to hunt and eat meat, not caring for the tomarros to much. now most villages have some sort of control on hunting but noting is being done activity to promote/reinterduce wildlife.[another naga will come along and eat it ] sad to say
