Whitetail Deer hunt with dad

Took a trip to my favorite hunting place in Lincoln, IL. Cold, windy and cloudy all day made me wonder if it was a wise decision to even be out in that weather. But the excitement of seeing a deer makes you forget all elements. Got a buck each after a lot of deer wandering around and none getting within range or just not being the ones we wanted. I'll let the pics do the rest of talking.

What rifle did you use for the hunt?

Can't hunt with a rifle around here :)

One was a 16 guage rifled barrell shotgun with a scope and the other was what my dad uses for anything and everything - SXS

Attached pic of the Savage Arms 16 guage.

Your Gun looks like a rifle.
Haven't seen a gun with a scope in India yet.
You guys in the U.S. come out with some interesting stuff.

Congratulations to your and your father for filling out your tags.
Extremely nice pair of bucks you have there.

MMMM! Venison!
Marinated backstrap, rolled in Bacon and grilled. Nothing quite like it.

Some states in the US, about 4 or 5, prohibit the use of rifles for hunting, thereby restricting hunters to 'slug guns'. The one in the pic looks like a Savage with a 'Accutrigger', am I right Conty?

It has a lot to do with the population density. Here in Minnesota, the southern part of the state is shotgun only (for deer) but rifles are allowed in the northern part of the state (which has a low population density). However, for varmints and small game, rifles are legal statewide. Makes sense? No? Well, there's government regulation for you.

XL,

Any idea what this 'Accutrigger' is all about? Savage keeps harping about it, but just couldn't figure out how it works.

That is a nice pair of deer you have there Conty! Are you having the meat processed somewhere? I also had a fortunate weekend about 2 hours south of where you were hunting but I'll save that for another time.

Congratulations again!
