Indians For Guns

Friends, I just wanted to share my Elk with you all; been real busy at work but managed to take some time off to go for my hunt. It's been real nice for me for the last month or so. I went in the pacific ocean for some fishing with my friends, got my limit (10) of California Rock Cod and Link Cod(2) the biggest among the two was about 2'4" this is big for me as I have never caught a fish that big. The biggest draw back was me loosing my camera in the darn ocean when I was posing with all my fish and my friend who was taking my picture slipped( the swells were about 8 feet) and choose to hold on to the rail of the boat with the same hand he was holding my camera; bottom line I am left without a camera in the middle of the hunting season Shooter my friend I feel you.
Now I am left to the mercy of my fellow guides( good thing they work for me and I can take some advantage of it and only a bit as they can leave me deep in the woods and I would have to walk back home...that would be a long walk)
Anyways, I left for my geese hunting before last week( opening week) and bagged 16 geese; they were a mixed bag of some Aleutian, Crackling geese.( No pictures yet, have to wait for my technically challenged crew to figure out to send me the pictures or they are just lazy, I don't know, go figure out) I promise I will post the pictures as soon as I have them.

Finally, last week I went for my Elk to Colorado; it was really a challenge to hunt this guy but got it over with it. It's lot of effort and believe me even though they appear to be big and slow, boy they are not; they seem to always see you before you see them. I got this decent size guy for me who would look good on the wall and also taste good on my barbecue.

357, that is a great trophy bull and a hunt to be proud of! Where did you go in Colorado? I'm familiar with quite a bit of the Western Slope, so I'm interested.

That hunt will be something you will remember forever. I am very envious! Thanks for sharing the pic, any others you have of your adventures would be greatly appreciated.

357, yes indeed it's good trophy bull may be one day i am going for elk as well it's in my list, any way i got moose as well 357 but i dont have the camera even i forget my cell phone that day .

Story is my good friend who work with me he call me and said let's go for drive and i ask him are we carry any gun with us and he said may be, but i take my sako 7mm rem mag. with me just in case , we left around 2.30 pm and we drive about 45km in deep in the woods and arond 5.30pm there he is, he standing 50yards off the road with cow.

Friend of mine he step out from the truck and take the first shot at him the same time i came out from the truck but bad luck is he shot him in the leg, before he take the other shot at him i shot him in the ribs,after that end of the story and we are came home around 9.30pm.

any way this is my story but enjoy you elk on the barbecue. i wish i enjoy this elk with you .hahahahaha

Thanks, timmy; I was in the Meeker area. yes, you are right i will never forget the hunt but will be back next year for a Cow Elk.

357, That northwest corner is an area I haven't been in very much at all. We did the Dinosaur area on the Utah border some, but not in that northwest corner at all. Furthest west we got in there was Kremmling, far to the east. You have a good spot and if you can draw a tag next year, you will be good! I put in for the Cripple Creek area and northwest of Walsenburg a few times (as a resident), but never did draw.

Did you use a guide, or did you just go wandering the woods?

But that bull sure does look good; I think you did quite alright!!

thanks, timmy; I have some good friends who were kind enough to show me the area who have hunted the area previously and I did my hunting on my own. I did have a guide with me for help but he was not guiding but came along as a spectator and he is my friend and business partner too; we run the guide service here in California.
I guess you keep trying until you draw; I never got drawn here in CA too

You are welcome, Dr; sure will try to post some with my guns( when I get some time), I do not have a fancy collection of guns but do have the guns I need for my hunting trips.

Thanks and sure they make awesome stakes I will remember your advice with the camera, I am wondering if the fish are having a time of their life, modeling with my camera buried in the bottom of the Pacific Ocean
