Three weeks of hunting is not strange. I too got close to it. During January and Feb 1990 I too was on a hunting trip lasting 18 days. Thats over 2 1/2 weeks.

On African Safaris, if after Elephant or Leopard , 3 to 4 weeks for the trip is common.

Mehul

Its great you posted it here ...my mothers family served in that area and uncle of mine was taken POW in the same ranges in 47/48. Actually met fellow POW of his from Srinagar this time in India. Quite likely some from my family must have trodden the same paths and hunting off course

Navdeep,

I have a trip planned to Pakistan this year. Though it is going to be partly business, I am going to try to get some hunting if possible. No one seems to know what the rules or restrictions might be on an Indian citizen hunting there though and if there is any doubt, I'll just return after meeting friends and plan another hunt in the future.

That said, I have a friend from Pakistan visiting the US for two months from end May and we may do an exotic game hunt here. Nothing confirmed yet, but I shall be posting if things work out. I did invite some close friends here who are experienced hunters but they cannot make it due to time and other constraints. This is going to be a tough hunt on difficult terrain and that is why I haven't talked about it before.

I've also given an offer on a very nice custom rifle that is on a private sale and that I have talked to Mark and Grumpy about. It is a rather specialised beast and not for everyone, though it should be a dandy little thing for the purpose that I intend to use it for. Should know very soon if my offer is accepted - this is a good time to buy guns as many people are in sell mode after the last season ended.

If you could get your relatives to post here, it would be siperb.

Cheers!

Mehul

That’s great you are going to Pakistan and it would be nice to visit your maternal side’s place. Hunting would be an added bonus but I would make sure that rules are all cleared up. Actually. My mother is also headed to Pakistan this year to see her old town and Lahore off course. My school mate and good friend moved back and is residing in Islamabad, thanks to him I have been to Pakistan ( technically) i.e. inside their consulate here in NYC.

Once you finalize this hunt program do post who knows incase you need some gun bearers ( hehe) camp hands. I was meaning to post on Nilghais, Sambar, Indian game found in Texas. I recall you mentioning an Indian who owns such ranch in Texas. Sometimes I think they should bring Tigers and let them loose here in US.

Customized rifle for you a hunch something greater than .375..best of luck looking forward to seeing the pictures.
