Here is a small group of buffalo munching their cud after grazing. You'll note that one uses judgment in approaching them. They are not hostile, but they don't like to be crowded, especially if there are calves about or if it is rutting season.

As you can see, the buffalo are not the only ones growing fat, although I declined to graze, having done so in West Yellowstone earlier.

Gail's turn to pose with the shaggy brutes (except for the one taking the pic, of course).

It must be nice to have one's own island, and not even have to pay rent!

Fantastic, pics,Tim.Pleasure to see these animals in their natural surroundings. And, nothing is more attractive than a dip in cool, fresh water on a hot summer day.

BTW,Could you please explain why so many trees are felled? Was it due to natural causes or timber logging? The hills look a tad bare.

Thank you for these pics.

Best-
Vikram

Its good to see buffalo and sad to see what the word 'herd' means now.
Buffalo herds were the largest collection of living mass on earth.

I wont go on about the sad past but thank god for the buffalo to have survived and that they can stioll be seen in their native environment.

Hope one day the future generations will again see the buffalo in their full glory.

thanks for the pics.

Wow.
Do they still use the word Bison for these animals?
