Absolutely gorgeous scenery. Thanks for posting that.

Amazing! At least the Pakistani people realise the value of their natural resources.
Justice alone is the mainstay of government and the source of prosperity to the governed, injustice is the most pernicious of things; it saps the foundations of the government and brings ruin upon the realm - Sher Shah Sur, Sultan-ul-Adil.

Great photos and a lot of good views. We have our own share of good places stacked up. I wonder how long it will stay that way. :? I remember seeing photos of areas of Arunachal which were only accessable by air or long treks(some still need that). When I went there for the first time the place was still breathtaking. But now , with every passing year the forests are getting denuded.. the dams comming up and ...I suppose every one needs to have his share of the natures bounty.
Well, the same happens to places where ever roads reach.

Change for the better or worse..

Thanks once again for the link,

Vikas

Glad you enjoyed that. If you noted, one individual hunter spends about Pakistani Rs.2100000.That is a lot of money and a lot of people do benefit from it.Of course, the animal population is the primary beneficiary.

Vikas, you are spot on with your assessment.

What a fantastic trophy Bharal. All the effort and long treks in those mountains rewarded with that nice head.
See the Ibex our man has in his "avtar". Another lovely trophy. Our man is a Shikar Guide in Pakistan . I have gone through some of his posts. The most expensive hunt in the world is the "Markhor" in the same region.
Hunting in the Himalayas is probably the most challenging . The persuit of the trophy and the spectacular surrounding makes all the effort worthwhile.

Very beautiful, Vikram! Thanks for sharing, it is quite something to see. A trip like that would certainly be something no one would ever forget.

BTW, I would not ride in the Land Cruiser when it drove across that bridge -- I'd prefer to walk, thank you!

Prashant, any idea what a Markhor hunt costs? Thanks.

Right said,Timmy.Walking is the safest thing to do there.

A Markhor would probably cost three times the Bharal. Not less than 50lacs Pak Rupees. That is a lot of money for an animal.More expensive than any of the BIG 5 in Africa.
The reason for these hunts being so expensive is the "Bandobast" which goes along with the hunter. All those porters and camp and food supplies carried to the remotest of places where the Maximum danger to human life is from "mother nature". One minute it is nice and sunny . So bright that you can get snow blindness if you are not wearing proper glares and within moments clouds set in and it is dark an gloomy. Every step you take at that altitude is an effort. The low oxygen level at that hight makes progress slow . One man falling sick and the whole Shikar party has to slow down. You really have to be 100% motivated and in the best of physical and mental health to think of such a hunt........apart from being Rich.....rather Very Rich.

And those bridges are strong. There are some in the Garhwal as well . Seasoned, solid wood .

Thanks,Prashant. I think the Black Rhino is still the costliest hunt in the world. I read on AR and on the net that prices in excess of $150K. Infrequent and very limited. But still the most expensive. Not picking on the info you gave but sharing the info. I am completely with you about the Markhor hunt.Such an expedition takes a lot of commitment, physical and fiscal.

Great pictures, like others have already said, the only word that even comes close to describing this place is "breathtaking"! I also enjoyed the OP's sense of humour and style of narration.

Thanks for sharing :)

Cheers!

Thanks for the info Vikram.
My God. That's really expensive. I had no idea that they still offer Black Rhinos for hunting. The last I heard was they only offer them for "green hunting" where they dart the animal and take snaps.
