Lovely recordings from yesteryears.
"Safety first-an elephant will not cross a bridge however strong".
This has changed now. The wild elephants of Rajajji regularly use bridges which have been specially constructed for them over the Upper Ganga Canal.

in addition to the nice trophy red stags etc,

please note the plaque said "trophies of the chase".

When I cameto the UK, many places had the word 'chase' in their names. I found that it was an older name for hunt., originating from the time when stags were chased by hounds. Its old usage and not used anymore.

Second thing: did you see the Nabha maharaja's swan-rolls royce?

its still intact and i think in a museum in europe or somewhere.

Looks like Sambhar deer to me. All of them are fantastic trophy stags.
I found the second video as impressive.Jackal hunting in New Delhi on the same lines as Fox hunting in the UK. Delhi has changed much, ever since. Around the same time (1950's and later) Gurgaon was a favourite place for partridge and quail shoots.

I mulled about it too. but at 5:04 look at the antler. 3 points forming a crown. Hence leading me to state red deer. Even I was wondering about where they might have shot red deer because the only place in india would be kashmir but maybe back then they had red deer around simla.

Some of them are Sambhar for sure. The 3 points forming a crown, could be a Barasingha. Never heard of the Hanguls presence in any other state other than Kashmir. But then (like you said) these recordings are from a different era.

I agree thats why i used 'etc.'

I mulled about that one too. But then barasingha antlers beam grows upwards like a hangul/sambars but then sweeps inwards somewhat like a whitetails so doesnt form a clasical crown or a cup.
The video wasnt clear and maybe living and hunting deer in europe, the first differential coming to my mind is a red deer. :)

but its good to communicate with a person with good knowledge about wildlife and thus shooter salutes you.
