Will be attending SCI Convention which is self proclaimed to be the world's largest hunting show over the weekend. The two brats will be with me and are allowed to bring one friend each, our small contribution to widening the hunting population. We will be driving to Reno from San Francisco. Will get pictures and maybe scan some outfitters specially discounted deals and post them here if there is interest.

We went last year also, it was great, H & H, Purdey, Rigby any a myriad of others had stalls. Hunting covered all continents and some places I never thought of a hunting destination. Taxidermist had some out of the world displays, was also interesting to see George Bush when he visited the floor that had arms and ammo all around because Nosler, Federal and others had ammo and there were plenty of double rifles, rifles and shotguns all over the floor. He did stop at several displays and checked out the wares.
Hunting and fishing guides were obviously there in the hundreds. Strong competition, so everyone was willing to deal.
If I can break away from the family on Sunday I will also visit The Firearms Engravers and Gunmakers Exhibition

Came back early from India for this weekend, going to be a good one!

Excellent stuff,Kragiesardar. Some of the taxidermy is amazing.BTW, those racks on some of the deer in the pictures from New Zealand, I wonder how those beasts manage to keep their heads from breaking off.
Magnificent animals. Many thanks for sharing and look forward to more.

I Agree.
Taxidermy is an art and a science. A number of members on IFG have advocated that Hunters should quit hunting and take to photography , justifying that a good snap is as good as a mounted animal.
I do not agree with this .
There is just no comparison between the two. These snaps do no justice to the beauty of the actual mounts. I am sure Kraigsardar will agree.Being there must have been a totally different experience.
If you show a person photos of elephants all his life. The day he actually sees a mount or a live one . It will be a quite different. The size of the animal can never be appreciated as well in a photograph as it can be in an actual mount.

Agree,to see the kids look up in awe at a grizzly and touch it's fur is a diffrent reaction then them watching Discovery Chanel. What made e go nuts was a 375 double at H & H for $243K. I could not take good pictures of the guns but they were out of the world. Next year it is Las Vegas, will stay a couple of days in sin city, check out the bottom, good single malt and some of the worlds best guns.

i love the croc getting the antelope. Well I guess you should stuff one of your trophies and plonk it in the middle of your living room.
What do you mean by this statement "will stay a couple of days in sin city, check out the bottom". I hope your going for the hunting show and nothing else in sin city

Agree with you Prashant. The hunt is not about only the animal but is an endeavour in exercising all our senses, the tracking, stalking, watching for factors like wind, the sun, humidity and so on. And for once, one doesn't mind going hungry for days! Photography is an issue by itself, but nowhere akin to shikar or a hunt.
