They are! He kept telling he'd seen otters. Didn't get to see one though...
And we finally come to the end of the quiz.

Well done, Grumpy. Your eyesight is awful but you can certainly take a hint!

Night all!

Grumps, haven't spotted any of the genetically mutated species you're talking about

Obviously they were a lot closer than the picture suggested.
Forgive me for not being altogher impressed - I expected something rather more exotic ...... being India and all.
We`ve got Otters locally.......It`s nice to see them though. We also have Mink.........damn things. Wish there was a market for Mink coats nowadays as I`d wade into the so-and-sos. There`s even a Polecat in our kitchen.

LOL.

They were approximately 50 yards away. It's at times like this you wish your camera had a lot more zoom.

"Like a Bengal tiger?"

Now even I could see they didn`t have stripes.............and if it had been a Tiger 50 yards away I doubt Dodger would have hung around to take a photograph !

Been about 100 yards from a tiger for well over 45 minutes but once again, all I had was an ineffectual point and shoot camera. And before you think of dishing out a VC, I was in a Jeep.

I just tossed a coin and you won Mack The Knife! ;) dont cancel...incidently, the beastmaster fits perfectly in the flambeau case i brought down for the uglystick(fully extended) thats solves my air transport problem.
The hookset dislodging is worrying...do mahseer spit out hooks too? I thought it was a marral trait only. Not a hook problem i hope?

Okay, the booking stands but bear in mind that I may just have to cancel at the last minute. You know why. Will try and do a day trip at the very least but as of now we are still looking at a full weekend. Fingers crossed.

The uptide rod may not be needed. I will let you know.

The hooks were new Owners or Mustad Ultra Points. Both types were sticky sharp. There may be two reasons for the misses:

1) I was using hooks with a straight shank, which when struck was pulling the bait straight out without encountering top or bottom lip or encountering only the extremeties and tearing through.

On the other hand, Sahadev's brother only uses the Owner Gorilla and swears by them.

2) We were using the current to send the bait anything from 40 to 70 yards from where we were in the coracle. Whilst there was no power lacking in the actual strike, it is possible this was greatly diminished due to the distance and inherent stretch found in mono. Unfortunately, the use of braid in this part of the canal can be very dicey. Infact I had to cut off four feet from the 40 lb line as it had frayed badly. Considering it was only used to catch two small mahseer, you can well imagine what can happen to braid.
