Lovely snaps Rup.
I was expecting some snaps of the Lions when I saw your Gir photos.
Did you see any on your trip?

Dear Vikram, Prashant, Alfaromeo,

Am I happy or am I happy?

Thank you very much for the encouragement. Am deeply humbled.

Prashant, no luck with sighting of lions :(. Probably because I did not grease palms of our able guide & driver

Nonetheless, it was a beautiful experience. Have decided to visit atleast one wildlife sanctuary every year starting this year. 8) Will ask for your suggestions for destinations in relevant threads.

And ab aapne bandar ko aaina dikha diya hai (you have shown mirror to the monkey), so am going to upload many more pics

Cheers,
Rup

Great idea Rup.
Lovely nature photography.

Here are a couple from the Pampas where I was hunting last month.
Two young stags .
One standing really close. Almost face to face. I had the camera in one hand and the rifle on the other shoulder. We were both shocked to see each other. He was a beautiful chocolate brown Fallow deer. We stood like that for a minute and then I slowly pulled up my camera and started to shoot to my hearts content. Never been so close to a wild animal. Finally he got fed up modelling for me and ran in the opposite direction. It was an experience I will never forget in my lifetime.

Very cool! The face to face captures the animals instincts, totally focused. Great snaps Prashant!

It was amazing kragie,
Just that bush separated the two of us. He was so close that I could only get his head and neck in my camera. If I had stretched my hands I would have probably touched him.
I was looking for Axis and was moving very softly in the bush. I think I surprised him as much as he surprised me.
But when he ran , he ran like crazy. Vanished into the bush within seconds.

Packed my bags n dumped them in my 4X4 to rush to Corbett before the park closes for the Monsoons (15th June to 15th November)..
Went to one of my favourite places in India.
The heart of Corbett Tiger Reserve.
Dhikala.
Over the next few day I shall take you guys on a trip to the Terai jungles.

Here are a couple to start with.

1.The drive to Dhikala. Check out the tall Saal trees. The jeep in the corner will give you an idea of the size of the trees.
2.The Ramganga river. Full of Magar and Gharial.
3.This is not a snap of the African Savana with the wilderbearst herds but our very own Indian Maidaans with herds of Axis (Cheetal) and Hog deer.
4.Elephants . ALl shapes and sizes.

WELCOME TO DHIKALA
CHARGE of the (Heavy) Brigade.
Watch out the Ganesha in the forefront of the Charge.
He was barely 10 yards when I had to shout to the driver to move. Fortunately he had the engine running.
I was actually reminded of a recent Bollywood number "Bhag DK Bose".
Those who have heard it will know what I am talking about.

------------------------------------------

You will see my hands shake in the snaps. Not the best of snaps but when you have an angry animal this size go after you. Everything shakes. Lol
