I agree with Dev.As long as it is legal, we need not bend over backwards to please the antis. I think it must a damn sight more humane than the rat poisons which all and sundry use without blinking an eyelid. The rat haemorrhages and dies a slow death but I guess that doesn't bother anybody.

THX 1138 has done nothing wrong nor violated any rules here. If he wishes to post such pictures, that is is choice. If anyone cares to read his post and view his pictures, that is their choice, as well. I read the post and was not offended in the least.

I agree with Dev, XL, and Yaj.

I can empathize with what Patel bhai is going thru, I don't understand Mr.Aglover's logic. He may say what have we done about it and I'll admit nothing, thanks largely to the attitude of his types of fence sitters. Let me pose a question, have you joined Nagri? Do you have a firearm license?

Since I think your penchant for argument will still wring out another long winded reply from you, let me tell you that putting up shots of classified vermin isn't against forum rules. So you can't tell anyone what to do or not to do as long as they are well within the rules.

If I were you, I would let the issue lie at this and let us move on. if you don't like a graphic topic don't read it.

Regards,

Dev

Good shooting THX1138
Nothing wrong in shooting Rats.
The good news for the PFA guys is that rats multiply really fast. You can go on shooting them all your life and you will still have enough "game",(LOL) , till you actually get fed up.
I am surprised no one said "Chuha Ganesh Bhagwaan ka wahan hai. Isko mat maaro".
Somehow this thread reminded me of the Pied Piper of Hamelin.
You are Bangalore's Pied Piper who is out to rid the city of its rats.......with an air gun instead.

I wish I could shoot all the stray dogs in my town and rid them of their miserable existence.

i agree fully, i only said why show i to the whole world. I myself have dispatched a rabies affected dog in my locality (it was too dangerous to go near it) but never posted pics on internet.
How did you diagnose that it was rabid? Do you have a degree in veterinary medicine?
You are admitting to an illegal act here.
aglover wrote:He is only wishing , if actually doing it and posting the pics is alright, what's wrong with wishing ?
The killing of vermin is legal but the shooting of dogs is illegal. The wishing aloud of what is an illegal act feeds the stereotype which antis like to paint of gun owners being a bunch of trigger happy yahoos.Hence my objection.

where did you got the impression that i was offended by the pictures? Atleast dont mislead others regarding my intentions.

I apologize if I misrepresented your feelings but you were asking the mods to delete his photos. What other interpretation was I supposed to come up with? I did say "if it offends you".

Please give names of 5 successful anti-gun people in India. And really i dont know any openly anti-gun public figure.
P Chidambaram
These Guys (There are more than five here).
Sanjay Kaul. He gets quoted here
Most representatives of the UN
Most members of the (printed) press
Menaka Gandhi

These people are public figures and are all openly anti-gun. I'm sure I can come up with more if you like.

Aglover and others, I hope you don't take these discussions personally. They are not meant as such, at least not on my part. So do not hesitate to state your opinions or to dissect my posts if you so desire. If everyone had the same opinion, this world would be a really boring place.

Just out of interest:
i. did you get an arms license in the end?
ii. how did you dispatch the rabid dog?

Yep, killing dogs is illegal (at least since the early 1990's); you might wish to read the following:-

http://www.mid-day.com/news/2011/nov/04 ... g-maid.htm - they have slapped him with Section 429 IPC, which isn't applicable here but animal welfare laws are.

Try http://www.lawisgreek.com/indian-pet-la ... of-animals for a sample of what is illegal, google for more.

Menaka Gandhi This baffles me , she herself have guns; truly feudal minded people , they can have it for themselves but will oppose for us 'lessor' beings.
Aglover, Unfortunately, many elites have that attitude. They don't trust us peasants, with guns. That is true in a lot of places, in India, in Europe and even here in the US.
If everyone had the same opinion, this world would be a really boring place
The most apt statement i read today!
We are all in this together, bhai. We, hopefully, all have a common aim here on this forum and have to remember that even though things can get heated at times.

Also write the same to your local Chief Wildlife Warden or the authorized officer, along with copy of general diary given to police, seeking to take steps to ensure crop protection for standing crops and for permission under Section 11(b) of The Indian Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972(can be read at http://envfor.nic.in/legis/wildlife/wildlife1.html) to shoot the wild animals for crop protection.

3) If neither steps are taken to stop this loss to standing crops or permission to shoot, approach High Court for writ. If you do not want to take help of lawyer, you can always approach court as "party in person".
Thnx for advise, I will sure make use of your suggestions.....

Right caliber for the job snIPer. Was it scoped ? According to hollywood conventions, a Sniper's rifle is always scoped.

Taking rats down with a rifle is a bit of a task (next to impossible for me with a scope, in congested place), an (air) pistol is more convenient. Especially if they are 'young' , they are never on a single place for 5 sec. But rifle is necessary for the big one , a pistol's ME is too low for 1 shot 1 kill. A chappal as a backup weapon is very handy for such a situation.
Nope not scoped, I prefer open sights. :-)
