Dear xl_ target,

Non-Vegetarian & Humanitarian are the qualities which can equally seen in an individual. Some times vegetarians are more cruel than NV.

Really, Are you a vegetarian? You've never eaten meat?
You don't wear leather shoes? Wear a leather belt?
No.. well, good for you.

If you do, however, keep in mind that someone had to kill a real live animal to get those items. What is the difference between a butcher slitting an animals throat or me shooting one? You think that is rude or gross? You can refuse to acknowledge where the leather for your shoes comes from or where your meat comes from but it is a fact of life that for you to get those items, an animal has to die. These items don't just magically appear, neatly wrapped ...on a supermarket shelf.

I'm sorry if you are sensitive to a photo of a dead animal but did you not see where the title of this section is "Hunting, Hiking, Camping, Fishing and other Fresh Air Activities". You always have the option of not looking at anything that you don't agree with.

Very Nice, I like your picture and the fact hunting in U.S used to be little plainer back then No camo clothes and odorless sprays etc which American hunters always overdo nowadays .I had someone over from Wisconsin few months ago and he is into bow hunting and says it’s really picking up in Wisconsin.

As for you Tauseef and many of my like minded friends . I have some nice snaps of animals very much alive an' kicking. Will put them up in the days to come. Just got back from another visit to one of my favourite places in India. (Have been going there ever since I was a kid) .

LOL Bespoke, I know what you are talking about but the only people who are really serious about camo seem to be the bow hunters and the waterfowl hunters. A lot of what you see about US hunters is typical Hollywood fantasy. They can't get the guns straight and they sure don't get much right about hunting. None of my friends or I wear camo when hunting. The law requires you to have 50% of your upper body covered in Orange. We dress for the weather here. If it is really warm, it'll just be Jeans and a orange sweatshirt. If its cold, it will be Long John's under the Jeans and an Orange coat. It its really cold, most people wear Sorel Pac-boots and Carhartt insulated coveralls or a snowmobile suit with an Orange jacket on top.

In most cases, the law forbids you to be totally camouflaged while hunting, except in certain circumstances:
BLAZE ORANGE REQUIREMENTS
Small Game Seasons: You may not take small game unless a visible portion of at least one article of clothing above the waist is blaze orange, except when hunting wild turkeys, migratory birds, raccoons, predators, when hunting by falconry, or while trapping.
Deer Season: Also, you may not hunt or trap during any open season where deer may be taken by firearms (including special hunts, early antlerless, youth seasons, and muzzleloader) under applicable laws and ordinances unless the visible portion of your cap and outer clothing above the waist, excluding sleeves and gloves, is blaze orange. Red is not a legal color, except for those who qualify under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993.
Blaze orange includes a camouflage pattern of at least 50 percent blaze orange within each square foot. This restriction does not apply to migratory waterfowl hunters on waters or in a stationary shooting location or to trappers on waters.

Hmm,
I just think that it is kinda rude for someone who joined the forum less that two weeks ago to come in and start dictating to people what they should post or shouldn't post.

Dear XL_target,

Agree with you met a person in baltimore last year and he was wearing some amazing camo, and yes he was a bow hunter. I guess they need it because they have to be closer to get a clean shot. Pls correct me if wrong.

reg,
drifter.

Yes Drifter, You are correct.
Bow Hunters must get close to take a shot. Hitting a target with a gun is infinitely easier than with a bow. Not only must you hit the target, you must hit hard enough in a vital spot to anchor it. An arrow, even fired with a compound bow loses energy very quickly. Forget Hollywood where the Rambo like character can shoot clear across the darkened enemy base to make the silent killing shot. The closer you are the better are your chances of stopping the animal. Since the animal is usually very close when the shot is made, bow hunters take great pains with camo and odor control. Some Turkey hunters camo up and waterfowlers who shoot over decoys tend to do the same.

Hi XL-Target,
> Very beautifully written - could close my eyes and picturise the entire happening!
> Your writing style reminded me of Kenneth Anderson (an avid hunter & story teller) who used to live in Bangalore - had the good fortune to meet his son - he doubled for Stewart Granger in the Hollywood film Harry Black & the Tiger.
> In retrospect my first deer hunt was an unforgetable experience - managed to bag a Chital Stag. The weapon was a sportarized Winchester -1917 model + 4x Weaver Scope - 150gr Silver Point.
> Keep writing and make my day!!!
Cheers

Briharcharan, Thank You.
My fathers unit (MEG) is headquartered in Bangalore, so I was born in Bangalore and have most definitely heard of Kenneth Anderson. I have even read most of his books. He was an Alumni of Bishop Cotton Boys, which I attended for a few years. Bangalore was a much smaller city back then and it wouldn't be far wrong in saying that pretty much everyone in Bangalore knew the name Kenneth Anderson. You do the great man an injustice by comparing his writing to mine but thanks anyway.

excellent write up for the first deer hunt.WAYBACK IN 1970 STILL IN MY TEENS MY FIRST DEER HUNT WITH GUN WHICH I POCESS NOW WAS A BRAND NEW .315 WHICH IS STILL WITH ME IN MINT CONDITION.I WAS NEVER SURE HOW COULD I HUNT WITH THIS RIFLE UNAWARE OF ITS ACCURACY.ALTHOUGH MY HUNTING EXPIERANCE 12 BORE HUNTING PARTRIDGES WAS NOT NEW AS IN HOLIDAYS IWAS ACCOMPNING MY FATHER WHO WAS ACLOSE FRIEND WITH MAHARAJA JIND[SANGRUR]RIYASAT .DURING THE BRITISH RULE. I DO NOT STILL BELIEVE AS HOW IT OCCURED TO M.JIND TO LET ME USE HIS PURDY WITH ME IN HIS LAP MY FIRST SHOT AND LO TWO PARTRIDGES THAT IS WHEN I WAS ONLY 9 YRS OF AGE .BUT IT GAVE ME A LOT OF COURRAGE .SO COMING BACK TO MY FIRST DEER HUNT AT THE AGE OF 17 ,I USED MY 315 WITH OPEN SIGHTS [BY THEN I HAD MY THREE YRS IN NCC].WHICH WAS THE REAL EXPERIENCE BEHIND ME ; I TOOK MY FIRST SHOT ALTHOUGH A BLINDER THE GROUP OF DEER WAS NEARING 1000MTS.I STILL NOT BELIEVE MYSELF I COULD NOT SEE THE DEER FALLING;JUST THE CLOUD OF DUST RAISED BY OTHER DEERS. WE ALMOST GAVE UP AS A GONE TESTING BULLET; AFTER AFEW MINUTES WE SAW A FEW VULTURES GROUPING IN THE SKY SENSING BLOOD MAYBE';THEN HEARD SOME ONE SHOUTING MY COUSIN TOOK TO RUUNNING IN THE DIRECTION WE HAD FIRED THE ONLY ROUND;THE ANNOUNCEMENT HE MADE WAS ASTOUNDING TO US.ONE OF THEM WAS DEAD.[i dont know what to make of this ;but i have understood one thing .trusting my rifle never ever wanting an imported one]ALTHOUGH I GAVE UP DEER HUNTING AFTER ABOUT TEN YRS] THE HUNTING BAN CAME MUCH LATER. ALTHOUGH PARTRIDGES WENT ON FOR ANOTHER SIX TO SEVEN YRS MORE. FINALLY I GAVE UP .FOR MY OWN PERSONAL REASONS...BUT MY POINT HERE IS NOT THE KILL..IT IS THE CONFIDANCE THAT I CAN DO IT...AND ALSO TRY TO TRUST AND UP KEEP U R GUNS...THANX ANG REGARDS TO ALL MY SENIOR MEMBERS OF THIS FORUM... COMMENTS PLEASE...
